Can gabby and kaetlyn rise to the occasion????? Will they skate clean? Honestly idk . Kaetlyn can be on the podium. Gabby could beat Ashley if she goes clean.

I would love to see Kaetlyn pull it together for the olympics there is something fresh about her but she has had huge issues with stamina on the fs. I don't think we have seen her skate close to clean. I am wondering if she should do two triple flip triple toe combos if that becomes consistent and huge point getter for her. That gives her 5 jump opportunities left for say 3Z, 3L, 3S, 2A, 2A 2T 2L combo

Kaetlyn has been doing flip combo and flip. But she puts so much energy into the opening flip combo that sometimes she fails on the second solo flip, so I'm not sure she'd be able to do another flip combo. Maybe intensive off-ice training is what she needs to build stamina.

maybe she had a broken leg and is just getting back in shape.... I broke my arm 1.5 years ago and still haven't recovered all my range of motion and muscle mass. And of course, I am not an athlete who needs to be 100% top shape to land tricky jumps.

I think it's easy to go into analysis about Kaetlyn's skating and forget how she is still on the come back trail. This is her first complete season since the injury.... Do not forget that last year, she didn't qualify for worlds and had a much shorter season with less events.

Let's see what she brings with the extra month of preparation for worlds. Let's moreover see how she is next year.

She has said herself that right now, she needs to put the two big combos early in the program. (3f-3t, 2a-3t) as she gets tired. She is still recovering.... i am looking forward to seeing when you guys will understand that she's a young athlete coming back from an injury that could have ended her career.... anything she manages IMHO is already a huge positive.

I think it's more a lack of mental stamina rather than physical. Kaetlyn's never been a LP skater, and seems to lose her focus by the end of the program. She may have skated one clean LP in her entire senior career I think at Challenge a few years ago. The results at 4CC notwithstanding, my feeling is that she's starting to make some progress with this now though, so will keep my fingers crossed for a good result at Worlds. :)

vintagefigureskater I am not sure about Justine, actually. I just know that she was modelling recently. I am going to hope she is looking for someone (or maybe Bruno/Richard are) so that she comes back ready to kick more butt on the JGP.

More photos from Junior Worlds.

So true, and it's too bad that the photographer didn't take a snapshot of Conrad drawing his number, just to make it more obvious that Team Canada's lads are tall. Is this trio the tallest men's singles contingent ever sent to a figure skating competition?

I'm suddenly reminded of Rod Black calling Nic a unicorn  while the latter was waiting in the kiss & cry after his SP at Canadians. (In case some of you didn't listen Black's commentary, he meant that it's rare to find a singles skater who's around Nic's height, not because he's magical. ;) )

i will try to watch our kids tomorrow

I wish I could watch the entire Junior Worlds Men SP and cheer for our Canadian guys, but I think I can only stay up long enough for Conrad's performance (according to the time schedule http://www.isuresults.com/results/season1617/wjc2017/wjc2017_JuniorMen_SP_TimeSchedule.pdf, he'll skate around 1:05AM EDT). Nic and Roman will be at 3:55AM and 4:01AM, respectively, and it's impossible for me to be awake at that time. :noshake:

Fortunately, CBC usually provides videos of the top 3 SPs as well as the Canadians, in addition to a full replay of the event. Check the 'Videos' page on CBC sports [and if you are on an Apple device download CBC sport's free streaming app to avoid glitches]. The videos should be posted by morning.

The real challenge is resisting the temptation to check out the threads and ISU results page before looking at the video replays.;)

editing to add:

Video's and live stream from CBC should go up here.

I hope you make it through the wee hours of the morning. Perhaps you should nap before the competition starts?

musical chairs much this year with our boys... even patrick and liam.... the only one never switching seems to be kevin

I did think it was a bit strange when Mango reported that Roman was at the YRSA, but I didn't realize that it meant he had returned to Wainman. Does anyone know what happened between him and Orser?

So Roman's switch is confirmed. He was at Cricket Club as recently as mid-February. Not sure what changed. Or maybe this is temporary until Junior Worlds is done? But YRSA is becoming a good spot for men. Conrad, Roman, and Nic are there now. Shoma's visited.

Conrad was clean! That speed though...PCS suffered as a result. Still, an international SB with 66.21.

i will have to update conrad's PS will I? hehehe yay!!! go conrad... i thought my son was very slow tonight... and very cautious in the step sequence... he was nervous... he didn't look too thrilled after his skate... the first 2 spins were shaky but he made the big jumps and got a very good last spin... so i am proud of him... i was hoping for a bit more but we will take this. first 3a so far in the juniors.
