Is she friends with Evgenia???

I'm not sure if they're friends, but they are friendly enough to want to sit next to each other in the audience and chat at the Ondrej Nepela Trophy. They also seemed to get along well enough at WTT.
Personally, I do think Elena thinks Evgenia is a bit of a geek and would love to beat her again ;)

- Elena, judging by your happy smile, the opening of a new skating rink CSKA for you a big holiday?
- Great. We all so waited for the opening of this rink. A couple of times with the girls we came to his construction site. I am very happy that the new skating rink was built and I am confident that new stars of Russian and world figure skating will soon perform on this rink.
- Where did you train before?
- All my life I train in CSKA, and I never betrayed my club. I am very glad that I have the honor to speak for an army club, to wear its uniform. I started figure skating in the Ice Palace of CSKA named after Vsevolod Bobrov, where the KHL matches are held. Since 2005 I have been riding in the CSKA training rink at the Stanislav Zhuk school. And now I waited until another arena was built.
- Did you like the new ice rink?
- It's very comfortable in the new arena. There are large rooms, comfortable dressing rooms. It's very good that a treadmill was made on the second floor. This is very important for the athlete. I have not skied here yet, but I think I will fill this gap soon. Soon this ice rink will become a native for me.
- Next week in Moscow will start the first stage of the Grand Prix. Is this an intermediate start for you or do you set the highest goals for yourself?
- Of course the highest! Only clean good skate. Now the main preparation is for this start.
- At the end of last season, you changed the coach. What are the advantages of the transition from Inna Goncharenko to Elena Buyanova (Vodorezova)?
- It happens that athletes change coaches. This is normal. Unfortunately, we had a peak in our relations with Inna Germanovna, and I moved to Elena Germanovna. I am very grateful to her that she took me to her group. I really like working with her.

Google Translate:
- Elena, how important to you is this stage of the Grand Prix in Moscow?
- In the Olympic season is extremely important. Therefore, all work to the maximum and want to show their best results.

- Do you like to perform in Moscow?
- For the third year I have been performing at the Grand Prix stage in Moscow. In principle, for me there is no difference where to perform, but everything is native here. Responsibility to my native fans I always feel, no matter where you are. I went to the ice - go for a drive, try to perform as well as possible.

- Two years ago you won the Grand Prix stage in Moscow. After that tournament, Evgenia Medvedeva has no defeats. Are you ready to repeat your success two years ago?
- I aim at a good, clean rental, but in general the judges decide who is the most worthy of us to take first place. Probably, I will utter a banal phrase, but my main rival is myself.

- Have you prepared new programs for the Olympic season?
- We left the short program from the old season, and the free program - the new one. I put it in Canada with the choreographer Shae-Lynn Bourne. I think it's very interesting, and I hope the audience will like it.

- You have a very sensual free program. Do you like showing emotions during the rental?
- I in general in itself very emotional person, and during performances I ride emotionally. I can not skate as some people teach us: "Here, raise your hand," "smile here." I am the emotion itself.

- What is the microclimate in the Russian team?
- All is well. No problem. All girls communicate with each other.

1) What happened to Lena's loop over the summer? It was nice enough to be in the SP. This season she changed it for a Flip and initially I thought it was to increase her BV (even with the risk of getting an edge call). But now it's seems it's because her loop isn't consistent enough for the short. These falls seem so random :/
2) At K&C she looked as she was about to cry... I just wanted to give her a big hug, it breaks my heart to see her like that. Elena is very emotional indeed.
3) Her dresses though, they were on point. I could easily say some of the best from her

Lena, don't give up. We support and trust you, you can do it ;)

LKGwennire, I share your confusion about Lena's freak fall before the loop. It's weird that it happened a second time. It tells me there is something wrong with her entry that needs to be fixed, that her team has somehow overlooked or not been able to address yet. However, I don't skate, and am certainly not an athlete, so I guess these things happen, and it's probably much easier for me to critique her and her coaches, than it actually is for her team to fix these issues. Still, I was/am hoping for more from Elena's switch to Buyanova.

Anyway, I'll always be rooting for her. It was nice to hear Julia's genuinely kind commentary on her too. Hope Lena regains confidence and does better at Cup of China! Even if she doesn't make GPF or Olympic team, I and many others still love watching her.

I totally agree, sometimes I get carried away by the emotions and then I think how much I love her and I like to see her skate, when she feels like crying, I want to be by her side to give her a hug. It causes me a lot of sweetness I really love it! It's always going to be the best for me, despite failing, she keeps trying to make every element and keeps going !! I'm going to keep on cheering her too !! [emoji72][emoji172]

I still hope to see again her program with Chopin's 64.2. This is the most beautiful program she ever had.
