Congrats to Lena for skating cleanly (no underrotations, hooray!) and scoring above 70 points!! :hap57:
She got the highest PCS of the short program--even above the reigning World bronze medalist. Amazing!! :agree:

I hope her SP performance gives her confidence so that she absolutely SLAY the FS!! GOO LENA GOOO!!!

I haven't had a chance to comment earlier because I've been so busy, but I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE Lena's SP costume. It's STUNNING! I also love her FS costume too. I feel like our little supermodel *FINALLY* has some costumes that are worthy of her. :yes:

Yeah, that was clear to me well before the competitions. In all the recent CSKA photos, I feel like Lena is always standing next to Buyanova (who looks super pleased), and Masha is either far away or out of the picture. Like here:

Well, the landing on both jumps were tight, so they were close to being called under-rotated, but the tech caller ultimately decided that they were within 90 degrees of underrotation, so Lena received full credit for the jump combo. Of course, because the landings were scratchy, the GOE was very low. She definitely could have landed the combo more cleanly, but technically it was judged fully-rotated...

She does seem to really care for her. I will admit that I have never been a Buyanova fan. Just get a bad vibe from her, but she does seem to interact with Lena sweetly

Hurray for Lena getting on the podium! I love how her fight and determination are back. The last couple of competitions, I was worried Lena had given up. This competition proved me wrong. I know it's unlikely if not impossible she'll make GPF, but I hope she takes the time off from competition to really polish her FS. She may never have the best looking jumps (though I think they have improved quite a bit from last season), but her spins, footwork, etc. can all be improved with practice I feel. She has really improved the SP and this particular performance at CoC really stood out from the other girls' programs. I am hoping the same will become true for her LP in the competitions to come.

GOOO LENA! Work hard and hopefully the rewards will follow. Also, I am warming to Buyanova. She does seem to care about Lena quite a bit. Still miss Inna though.

I wish Lena would increase difficulty of her programs. LP needs 2 3/3s. SP need more jumps in seconds half. With current setup she won't make the Russian team.

I think it's more important to be clean than to be increasing the difficulty. Five of her jumps/combo were in the second half with two being in the first half. She is losing points of quality of execution and that's what she needs to work on. She did good this past weekend and probably got some confidence from it. I doubt she will make the final so she should maybe try another small event before Nats
