There has been some speculation as to whether Davis and White will return to competitive skating. What's your thoughts? Will they return?.... Personally I don't think they will. I think if they were, something would have leaked by now. Someone would have spotted them doing new routines with Zueva. Also I think the strong return of Virtue/Moir makes a comeback less likely. I think they may be holding out giving an answer for sponsor/endorsement reasons.

Nah. I don't think they will return. If they ever had the intention to come back then they would have returned this season, and not in the Olympic season.

So...um. Is that a no? ;) I also vote no. Neither Tessa or Scott are Married and I think that makes a huge difference. Charlie is a married man now, and he would definitely need Tanith's blessing to even think about it. There's so much time away from each other and after all of their success outside the rink, I can't imagine they have the desire to go back to the beginning. Lastly, with the strength of the current US field, there's no guarantee they'd even make the team.

I think D/W could dominate as much as if not more than V/M if they came back. Their technical perfection would still be unmatched, probably - V/M and P/C would outskate them artistically, but Meryl's dancing experience will have helped a lot.

But they won't. They've moved on. I've always had the sense from them that they've achieved everything they want and that their careers don't feel incomplete.

While before the return of V/M there was probably a 0.5% chance that D/W would return, I think the success of V/M has doubled the chance that D/W will come back, to a whopping 1%. Just to stop Tessa and Scott from having the final word on who is the best ever. (If V/M won OGM in 2014, no way V/M would be making a comeback. They'd have the final word on being better than D/W then.)

the evil part of me wishes that they come back, just to see how the posters on GS would demonize them for taking away spots from other US teams.... just as they did when V/M came back... or would we assist to another famous double standard??? What Canadians do is , what others do is fine?

I hope they don't. I want to keep that Scheherazade performance from Sochi burned into my mind forever! :)

No, and I don't want it even as their biggest fan (just like my avatar suggests that I might be  )

V/M return seemed much more likely even before the earliest leak.

I take it some would love it if that were to happen. Some seem to revel in it.

Please Please Please Please Please Yes!!!!!!:dev2:

I'm only saying this since Virtue and Moir came back. And I still can't forget how much stink V/M created in the interview after the last Olympics, over how judges cheated them out of their win and how Marina may have been biased in her coaching. Ugh!!!!..:disapp:

But frankly speaking, yeah, this very much feels like Evan Lysacek in the run up to Sochi. We knew he wouldn't come, and as a result, he didn't need to give his "injury" as a reason for Sochi. Hope D/W doesn't do the same.

I always had a feeling Virtue/Moir would come back (even though I tried not give myself too much hope!), but with Meryl and Charlie I've always thought they were done after Sochi: They ended with an Olympic gold and WRs after two perfect seasons, there is no better way to finish your career. They have definitely moved on and embarked many new projects, so they probably have zero interest in competing again, plus a comeback next season wouldn't be easy at all, they could qualify for the Olympics but with no guarantee of being the top US team, and V/M would have an entire season to gain momentum over them, not to mention P/C who are obviously not going down without a fight. So they are probably not officially retired just to keep a bit more media interest around them (as many skaters do and are allowed to), but I don't get what they could possibly gain from a comeback.

This is correct. Plus, they already have new jobs. It's one thing if they were sitting at home bored to tears. I've seen Tanith on ESPN and I've heard Charlie in the booth commentating. I have a feeling they're quite happy with where they are in their lives and have little desire to return to competitive skating.

This isn't for ESPN but, here Tanith interviewing Daisuke Takahashi:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpPEmcD2MXc

I'd also say no. At this point, it would be hard to make a serious comeback because they'd have to be in top form by the start of the GP season to build buzz around their programs.

I agree that they probably won't come back, but I don't think the fact that Charlie's commentating means anything in terms of that. Didn't Tessa and Scott do some commentating while they were off?
