Phan is only 14 ; too young for international Senior Men's.

I've met Joseph twice, and I've also talked to his mother, and I can confirm that he's 16 years old. His birthday was about a week before the Quebec Summer Championships.

Phan only had to be 15 before July 1st. His birth date is 8/4/2001 so he is 16 and age eligible. The one issue is whether he has competed at a senior international and earned the required SP and FS TES minimum scores. According to his bio, he has yet to compete at a Senior international, so he isn't eligible for the Olympics.

Photos from the Nationals Sendoff Gala in Scarborough this past weekend. As usual, it's a challenge to correctly identify the lower level skaters that I don't get the opportunity to see very much.
On first viewing, I did really like Gilles/Poirier's new free dance, although I was trying to figure out why it didn't seem more familiar to me. I am looking forward to seeing it again at Nationals (on TV).

I loved her last year's free. I can't listen to TSL right now, but today I listened to the one about Russia being banned (old one from earlier this month) and the one about Spanish etc nationals. The info I think I heard was towards the end of one of those two.

I rarely agree with them but, they're right. If Gabby feels better with her old Program then that's what she should do. Remember when Johnny went back to Otonal "After" Nationals? That was a mistake because he didn't have enough time to really train it. Gabby is a likely medalist and with 3 spots, I can't see her missing the team.

She'll make the team for sure. I'm kind of glad she switched, although I think changing just the music to a full orchestra version would have helped immensely. However if the layout didn't work...

I would love to see Liam Firus join Patrick Chan at the Olympics. Although Liam does not have consistent jumps, his LaLa Land LP is fantastic. If he can pull in the jumps he should be #2. Keegan would be my next choice, then Kevin. For the ladies, it's Katelyn, Gabby and Alaine. Pairs will be a nail biter and I would like to see Duhamel/Radford, Ilyschcenka/Moskovitch and Seguin/Bilodeau. It's a shame for Moore-Towers/Marinaro but they have not quite evolved into an elite team...not yet. Ice dance is pretty set at Virtue/Moir, Weaver/Poje and Gilles/Poirier. Quite the group of talented skaters all around!

Lots of Canadian news right before the holidays? It must be Olympic season.

CBC's chosen Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir as their Olympic athletes of the year: http://www.cbc.ca/sports/olympics/w...nadian-athletes-of-year-virtue-moir-1.4454379

I know we have a thread for this but icymi Patrick is back and is getting things sorted out: http://www.cbc.ca/sports/olympics/w...atrick-chan-olympic-training-canada-1.4455396

Tessa, Scott, and Patrick were all part of a media event for Air Canada for the 2018 Olympics. They will be appearing in a video for this campaign: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bc25dbxlVKk/

Piper & Paul confirm their new James Bond FD: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bc5i_edggP4/

Kaitlyn & Andrew had a blast at Christmas on Ice: https://twitter.com/WeaverPoje/status/942899385591099392

Meagan and Eric had fun doing Stars on Ice China: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bct99YunrS2/
Then they came back and got to watch an advance screening of I, Tonya: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bc4lCyHhnnl/

Nationals are now about 3 weeks away for the seniors (less for the juniors & novices) and the start orders have been posted: https://skatecanada.ca/2018-canadian-tire-national-skating-championships/

I was at that Nationals send off event in Scarborough too and I must explain that Pj Kwong comes to most of these events. It's because of a few reasons. First, she's friends with Carol Lane - they are both CBC employees. Second, Piper & Paul's rink is open to the public on these occasions. So anyone can come and you don't need media accredition or an intimate relationship with the skaters to watch them. She can just come as a regular fan. Third - she needs to keep up with Canadian skating because she is a journalist. Pj also attends some other events in the GTA. I've seen her at Thornhill Summer Skate. And I know she's been to Cricket Club's Worlds simulation in the past. If other skaters want Pj to advertise them they should just invite her. She's always trying to interview skaters and coaches for her podcast.

@janetliz: Nice photos! Your teams (in order) are: Colleen Tordoff / Vladimir Tchernov, Jade McCue / Gabriel Clemente, Olivia Han / Grayson Lochhead, Nicole Kuzmichova / Alexandr Sinicyn, Molly Lanaghan / Dmitre Razgulajevs, G/P, and Aya Hammond / Michael Barsoum

Just wonder what the plan is for Nationals... any autograph sessions or anything like that?

Thanks. Please remember I'm a "New Guy" here.
