Or, she could import him. No reason why she would be the one who has to move. The male partner is usually the older one so he (whoever it is) may be old enough to move. By the way, Kuznetsov is in Perm...unless they already found a partner for him.

I wonder if any really good pair skater would be willing to move to a Yekaterinburg? It is not a city known because of their pair skaters and neither are their coaches well known.

True, but knowing that he will have a decent partner may be the deciding factor.

junior ladies just ended,
I'm impressed by Kurakova, after her URs and small jumps - her jumps now are bigger thus aren't prone to much underrotations like last year, hope she gets JGP events next year. Vasilieva (who is coaching her?) and Scherbakova have backloaded jumps but skating skills aren't that good. You know the competition is big when somoene like Moroz wont event make the junior nationals ?

He really struggles with jumps. Alright, he may not pose risk to her health by dropping her from lift or throwing het into the board, but the goal of pair skating isn't just to survive. The goal is the skate their best and if possible, win the competition. Next season she will be junior eligible, but if they get GP event (and that's not certain because they have some pretty good juniors), his jumps will be spoiling her results.
Some junior pairs made a huge progress this season. Poluyanova/Selkin were not that great during their GP event (to be fair they were a newly formed pair), but at this Russian cup they managed to beat Ustimkina/Volodin.
Another pair, Osipova/Gallyamov, have been pretty consistent this season and getting decent scores, so they may be considered for JGP spot too. Considering that there is only 12 spots, which can mean six pairs getting two spots if they all deliver, there will be real fight for those spots. So if Zhuk wants to get JGP events, she really can't afford to have a partner who is regularly messing up.
Well, my point was that it's not yet all about results for them at this stage. JGP is nice, but it isn't quite as impactful for pairs as it is for singles. Pairs take longer to mature as skaters and learn all their stuff. Her partner messing up his jumps will not affect her learning. And if she can continue improving on her own a good partner will become much likelier prospect even if it requires him/her moving to a new place for training.

So Anna's program got "backloaditized" and lost quite a bit of it's charm as a result. Still easily her PB score, and her FS (Gleikhengauz work) is a little masterpiece despite backloading. Victoria is brimming with energy as always. She seemed like she was a little under weather at her previous competition, but not this time. Sofia made a huge impression on me at Panin memorial. She was just as impressive this time. The confidence this girl radiates at her age, and that program (choreo by Nikita Mikhailov AFAIK) is just magic.

Savosin landed 4T 4S and two 3A (one in combo) in FS. Strong skating, good progress with respect to early season. Seriously prepares to JGP Final.

It may not be about the results, but the skaters benefit from the experience of competing at JGP.

Artemeva withdrew. I wonder if she is out of nationals, or if the federation will give her spot at the nationals based on the fact that she did get a GP spot (even if the federation pulled her out).

Federation hasn't pulled anybody out. Why would any federation do that. That is just one more conspiracy theory.

Maria can take part 4th and 5th event is she wants. Skater can take part more than two events.
