Hats off to Hector GONZALEZ ELVIRA (ESP), who is about to skate in the Junior Men's SP having skated a few hours ago in the Advanced Novice Free Dance.

I'm not doing him justice. Hector and partner Maite OJEDA LINDHOLST actually won both Pattern Dances, were runners-up in the Free Dance, and won the overall title.



WELL DONE HECTOR AND MAITE!!!

This Singles SP will be the FOURTH competitive programme Hector has done in the space of 26 hours!

And with the Junior Mens FS being the first segment tomorrow, he will be doing FIVE programmes in the space of, at most, 45 hours.

At least 2 skaters from 2 different ISU countries for minimums. Both senior ladies and senior ID just barely make the requirements!

About the judges: At least 5 (ISU?) judges and the technical controller and specialist can´t be from the same country or something. Judging panel looks good here.

ISU or International status is required for judges. Same for controller and specialists.
One "national" judge and one "national" technical specialist can be accepted in "exceptional" cases.

Other requirements are those you listed. Also that no ISU member can have the majority of the panel of judges. So 2 judges from same country is ok.
Referee can also double-job as Judge #1.

Since I singled him out for feature, I just thought that I should let you know that Hector Gonzalez finished 5th in the Junior Men's SP last night.

Hector will be the second skater to go in the final group of the Junior Men's FS today. So, that will be FIVE competitive programmes in the space of 45 hours.

It's not just Ice Dance and Singles Skating that he does. He also does Alpine Skiing! Here is his Bio on the Spanish Winter Sports Federation's website:

Admittedly, there are only 2 Giant Slalom races listed, and they were from when he was 10 years old. But still.

This kid is a competitive machine!

We start Day 3 the same way as we finished Day 2, in the company of the Junior chaos category!

I know we are starting in the afternoon, but I still hate it when we have the same category at the end of one day and the start of the next. It doesn't give the skaters much of a chance to get a proper rest.

Any chance they can start with the junior ID early? Junior ladies FS was done almost 30 minutes before schedule and they are doing the ice resurfacing now. Senior ladies are skating late enough as it is, it would be nice if they had the chance!

We now have a Short Dance double-bill. 8 Junior partnerships, followed by 2 Senior partnerships. There is actually a 40 minute gap scheduled between them, so I will do separate posts.

Apparently they choose not to. Maybe it´s not possible on such short notice if the skaters aren´t ready or so on, but we have seen competitions where they start earlier if they are ahead of the schedule!

I´m not sure why they made such big miscalculations though.

And yes, my girl Mia Caroline will be the last skater out and she will skate as late as 23.03 I feel bad for her, because she is looking for WC minimum and i´m afraid that skating this late will affect her. But she has more chances after today. But, Mia was actually in a similar situation in the last domestic competition in Norway, they had a very late schedule there as well (very unusual for domestic competition), and she skated as late as 23.15, so skating 23.03 will actually be an improvement from that competition. She had a rather shaky performance then, so it seems she was affected by skating that late. But now she has the experience in skating late, so maybe it will be better today

I don't know, but I suspect that maybe there were a lot more Junior and Senior dancers entered originally, and that the schedule was designed around that. But then there were a lot of withdrawals, and they decided not to cause any disruption to the plans of the Senior Singles skaters and their teams.

That's my theory anyway.

In Bulgaria Mia Caroline made a mistake on her combo with a fall, now she landed her 3T-3T combo but had a fall and UR on her 3Lo which she had no problem with in Bulgaria Which led her to a TES of 29.50, in Bulgaria she got 29.88. She is getting really close to the TES minimum but she needs to be clean to get it and she is so close but somehow she either makes mistakes on the combo or the solo jump

On the other hand, I didn´t expect her to go clean here given the very late skate, so she did really great given the circumstances With a SP score of 55.20 she is in a comfortable lead with a 8 points before the FS tomorrow. She got very well rewarded on her PCS and it´s a new PB! Now, thank god the free skate tomorrow will be at a human time.
