Eelna about Shae-Lynn Bourne and more... http://www.sovsport.ru/gazeta/article-item/994711 (russian language)
- Programs before the season you put the famous canadian figure skater Shae-Lynn Bourne. Why?
- Shae-Lynn Bourne puts me the program for the second consecutive season. The first time I saw her on Denis Ten's show in Kazakhstan, and then I really liked her, because she has a very interesting style of skating, an unconventional approach to work. Then I had a little dream - to work with her. Last year, I gave She-Lynn a short program and liked everyone very much. Therefore, this year did not raise the question of choosing a choreographer.
- What do you mean by "interesting style" Bourne?
- On the ice it is very light, playful. Shae-Lyn is very suitable for me in style. We have an excellent teamwork, we catch one wave and the process of preparing the program is positive and productive.
- Can you tell more about the programs?
- Until the season has begun, we keep the program secret, so for now I can only say that the short program will remain from last season.

It seems to me that Averbukh said that he was only going to work with Evgenia in the Olympic season ... Although I also helped Max Kovtun ...

Averbukh said that Elena asked him to make the program, and he refused. Elena said that the question of the choreographer was not raised, only Bourne in Olympic season.

Averbukh had not always told the truth before. He often works as a typical producer from show business. All for the sake of PR, self-praise and hype. I believe Elena's words. She immediately fell in love with the work with Bourne and her SP last season.

The truth to me I am glad that I work with Shae, because she feels happy and comfortable with her, I really want to see the new program.[emoji2]

I am also happy that she works with Shae.
I've said this on the State of Russian ladies topic, but that SP is the reason that Elena became one of the first Russian ladies that stuck out for me (new to FS and all that:)). I've been a fan ever since

It sounds like Buyanova and Elena are doing good work together, and though she kept her SP, they revamped it a bit. I have to admit my opinion of Buyanova has improved considerably. She seems to really understand girls and how to work with them. I'm not sure why people had such a negative opinion about her? Were the rumors of her trying to poach Elena really true, or just gossip? I'm still sad that Lena left Inna, but I suspect the relationship got in the way of Lena growing and making the proper adjustments/improvements as a skater. I hope they still have a good relationship off ice.

Finally, I like Historia de Amor for an LP- not exactly what I was expecting but I think Elena can pull it off very nicely and it will show off her strong points. Some people are saying it's a war horse for ID, and many people may be using it for the Latin theme this year. Maybe so, but I still think Elena will do a great job with it. I wonder what TAT thinks of the FS? Apparently she's said very good things about Evgenia and Maria's programs, so hopefully Elena's programs are just as good. I wonder if Lena changed her jump layout like Maria did (moving more jumps to second half). So excited for Russian test skates!! It's a shame they can't send the top 5-6 skaters.

My opinion of Buyanova also improved a lot. Lena in a recent interview said that the skater and coach relationship was lost with Inna and they stopped expecting results and that is what should not happen, I would also like to hear Inna's opinion someday, I still believe Lena, although I would like to read an interview with Inna.

Happy for the LP choice! Latin music suits Elena well, it is a rhythm that can showcase her strengths and make her posture look better.
Both music choices are great and lively, I'll just hope they help her skate them with all her grit through the season :)

Would love it if someone could better translate these statements from Tarasova. But according to Google translate, it sounds like Tarasova is saying Elena's participation and good performance at WTT were crucial in rebuilding her morale after the disappointing Russian Nationals, and if she hadn't been sent, she may have been less motivated in returning to good form this season. Also, it sounds like Tarasova feels Buyanova and Elena have a good working relationship, and Shae Lynn Bourne is an ideal choreographer for Lena. So, nothing really surprising there, but good to hear from TAT as always :)

Thanks to Tyranid for translating Buyanova's interview! :thank:

Seruleane, I am still a bit skeptical about Buyanova's abilities as a coach, but it does seem like she and Lena are getting along well now.

A couple months ago, she did an interview and she sounded a lot less positive about Lena--like how she mentioned that Lena has a difficult character. And I was really surprised/taken aback. But now she is saying things that I would've expected her to say, like "There was no adaptation needed for me and now I almost feel like she’s been in my group the whole time."

They certainly look like they are close:

And the fact that Lena looks happy makes me happy.

I did think it was very interesting that Lena and Sasha Samarin were there at the opening of the new rink at CSKA, but Masha was not. Perhaps that was just how the scheduling worked out, but it did make me think that perhaps Buyanova has a new favorite student...?

Still, I'm not sure what she herself can do for Lena as a coach, but it is clear that she can give Lena "optimal training conditions," which was not necessarily the case with Inna. Lena and Masha have the luxury of separate ice time, whereas I bet Lena, Max, and Sergei were always on the ice at the same time, competing for Inna's attention.

And now this video shows that Lena gets to work with Alexander Uspenski again. Last season they were not working together at all (maybe due to internal politics??), but I'm guessing that Lena now can work with whichever specialists she wants to.

Is it just me or does Lena's skating look a bit smoother here? ;)

It is great to hear that Lena's got her motivation back and is working really hard though. :agree:

As for Lena's LP, very interesting choice! I've been calling for Lena to use a Latin piece for a couple of years now, but I expected her to pick something a little more upbeat, like her 2013-14 LP or her J-Lo program. Still, I'm optimistic for a couple of reasons: 1) apparently they changed the middle part, so maybe there is a fast section after all, and 2) it sounds like the program was initially Shae-Lynn's idea, and she seems to really understand Lena as a performer.

Which reminds me, test skates are about 1 month away! :eekn:

I really hope Lena stays injury free and is in killer shape at test skates! And I hope she has a total kick-@ss LP!!
GOO LENA! :cheer:

Hi Batsuchan, welcome back! Yeah, from the interviews, it sounds like she has her motivation back and is training hard. I certainly hope we will see evidence of that at russian test skates and she can prove she's still very much in contention for a spot on the Olympic team. Last season was such a downer for me since Lena didn't go to Europeans or Worlds. I pretty much lost interest in figure skating, which surprised me. I guess I end up being more of a fan of certain skaters than I do of the sport itself. Anyway, I hope Lena has a fabulous season and that she will prove all the naysayers wrong.

Hi Seruleane!!

I totally agree...I didn't watch Worlds videos until like a month after they happened... :slink:

I hope Lena proves the naysayers wrong too and snags that 3rd Olympic spot!!

Here's another interview with Radionova:

https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/th...r-switching-coaches-i-saw-that-coming.101689/

I love this interview with Elena! She talks about what happened with Inna Goncharenko, her current work with Buyanova, and how much she enjoys working with Shae Lynn Bourne. I agree that last season especially, I felt like she was hitting a dead end and I wasn't sure if her coach knew how to help her improve. Sounds like it was a really difficult decision for her to leave Inna. It's interesting though how she mentions ice training is much more work now that she is focusing on gliding and every single move, whereas before she just skated from jump to jump. Sounds like our suspicions that her training was lacking something were correct. I'm also thrilled that she is learning and appreciating different styles. I can't wait to see her during Russian test skates!!! :yahoo:
