But I am not so sure that is a good thing. The Russian Cup stages will only get tougher later on. For now, the competition at the first stage seemed reasonable (and Sintisyna has withdrawn, that is one threat gone). All the others are probably not "ready" as well. And she only has to finish around 5th place to be sure to qualify for RusNats. That task won't be easier in later stages...

Can a fed really force a coach and a skater to work together?

If the Russian Fed were to force a partnership, I don't think this is one they'd force. There are plenty of coaches to choose from if they didn't want to work together.

They can force you to go to the Olympics for sure.
I can't answer that. But as I understand the Russian system, that scenario seems possible to me. The RusFed is funding all these National Team skaters after all. In Zhenya's case, she belonged to Eteri anyway, another coach would have meant to shift funding money and that would take time. A quick fix would be just to simply get Zhenya back to Eteri where she "belonged". And that, to me, is exactly what happened here. It was all decided in a couple of days. Maybe some nice Russian fan can explain all this to us?

Well, if she is injured she shouldn't compete at all imo. And that means that she should forget about this season and Russian Nationals.
But is she really injured? I know she has her back problems, but the Orser team worked around that.
Isn't this injury thing something Medvedeva fans was saying after her disastrous free skate at Test Skates? It's odd if she's injured, and then gave this huge reveal that she is going back to Eteri. It doesn't add up to me.

This is used depending on if it fulfills someone's narrative. Once it is Eteri's, in other case's is Layshev's, Axonov's , Samb0-70 you peak whatever you want.

I believe she is injured, by that meaning back issues. That is for real. If she is not stressing her back she can get better, it doens´t mean she will be out the whole season.
I believe Brian and Med was discussing after test skates she needed to rest to deal with the back issues.

Zhenya always had a chronic back injury, it was diagnosed during the Olympic season that is why she quit doing the Biellmann spin after that season and in genereal started to have issues with some of her spins. According to Brian Zhenya tried to attempt a Biellmann again while she was at CSKA, which caused her back to be aggravated.

This is so ironic, especially considering just recently posters were quoting Evgenia’s reply to a fan, that’s she found her place and definitely not leaving. And people responded that it reminded on how she spoke in 2018 before leaving Eteri.
and the boom! The deja vu didn’t come out of nowhere, it’s the same thing as 2 years ago.
What can I say, I’m not all too surprised she did that. Poor Brian, bless his soul, I think he’s kinds happy to be out of russian drama for good.
But also, kind of hilarious... the 2 year drama where fans were building the image of Eteri “the evil”, and Evgenia, who survived the horrors of Chrystal dome, and it all came crushing down that quick as she returned back there saying, she spent her whole life there and that “it feels good when everything’s good”. Oh my, oh my.
also, fans desperately trying to find an angle, where it looks like the tragic story built up in their minds still makes sense. Come on... if you loved her as an athlete and as a skater, you wouldn’t care. But most seem to love the idealistic image of a struggling victim they had in their minds.
It’s evident that none of students that left actually hated Eteri. Polina’s back as a coach with Eteri, after coming back and making up with her last year. Shelepen did the same thing. Panenkova also expressed her desire to be back to Tutberidze. Elizabet went back and was happy as ever to train with Eteri. Now Evgenia too.
