Music from "The Little Prince" (just released this past year on Netflix). The songs all feature similar leit motifs, so it would be quite easy to form a cut from several different songs that feels seamless and cohesive, yet still varied in sound. Equation, Escape, Trapped Stars, etc. - give them a listen.

I'd like for more music from Shostakovich to be used.

It's powerful, and would require mature male and female skaters to make it work, but I'm surprised that it hasn't had as much use in the post-soviet period. Here's the finale from his 5th symphony.

I'd also welcome some of Schumann's Kinderzenen, although Traumerei has such strong nostalgic and commemorative associations for Russians with the end of the Second World War, that the entire suite may be a point of sensitivity.

In light of his recent death, I think George Michael's discography can be used. Some examples:

- "Jesus to a Child" for Papadakis / Cizeron
- "Faith" for Javi
- "Freedom 90" for Chan
- "Brother Can You Spare a Dime?" for Duhamel / Redford
- "Father Figure" for Stolbova / Klimov
- "Careless Whisper" for Bobrova / Soloviev
- "Fastlove" for Chock / Bates
- "Kissing a Fool" for Virtue / Moir
- "A Different Corner" for Gilles / Piper
- "I Knew You Were Waiting For Me" for the Shibs

The only music of his I remember being used was Debi Thomas in the 1988 Olympic exhibition.

Anyone else?

I have been known to complain about music used by some skaters. I try to always remind myself that it could be worse. It could be the Jingle Cats.

I have to say that I think the Adele Techno music that the Lithuanian (?) team is using for their Short Dance hip hop is my least favourite.

I'm on board for more Shostakovitch and Prokofiev.

I would like to see the ice dancers use more actual hip hop music if they are going to use the hip hop pattern. A lot of musical choices, especially OST, come across as safe and boring to me.

+1 on Shostakovich! :luv17:
The Finale from Pirogov Suite is so epic, I wonder how it hasn't been used before.

Prokoviev's Romeo & Juliet has been used at nauseam but to my recollection, few/no one has skated to The Balcony Scene in its entirety (it's usually mixed with the Dance of the Knites) & Tybalt's Death.

Schindler's list is not only about the main theme. Remembrances is a very emotional and engaging piece that would be perfect for skating.

Clint Mansell's The Fountain has some wonderful moments, Death is the Road to Awe being one of them.

Yann Tiersen has composed more than Amélie's soundtrack: La Veillé & L'Homme aux Bras Ballands deserve some consideration

Has anyone skated to Shigeru Umebayashi's Yumeji's Theme or Polonaise from 2046?

I'm dying to see someone skate to Alberto Iglesias's El Amante Menguante from Talk To Her

I'm gonna break my "Thy shall not use Tango anymore" rule by adding Zbigniew Preisner's Tango

And finally, someone should do Le Jeune Homme et la Mort to Johann Sebastian Bach's Passacaglia and Fugue in C minor. If well skated, it would reach/surpass Bolero in epicness.

I think you mean the Belarussian couple Viktoria KAVALIOVA / Yurii BIELIAIEV. I didn't care for that music either.

I've always wished an ice dance team would do a program (exhibition or competitive) to "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go." I've gone so far as to plan a program in my mind hehe. George Michael's death (RIP) reminded me of this and perhaps we will see some George Michael programs next year as we saw Prince ones this year.

You just didn't care? Well you must be really tough not to cringe and feel pain like I do!

I think a problem in translation. When I said I didn't care for it, I meant I didn't like it. (Didn't care for it is sort of the more polite version of not liking something.) Sorry should have explained better. Not a big fan of their skating in general.

Persona OSTs, I've been waiting for someone to make this into a short program

Anything from the Journey OST especially these pieces:

Undertale, probably covers though to fit your fancy of a slower or faster tempo

Idk who'd have the energy to skate to this for their sp as there's no stopping once the song gets going

Doctor Who has a good range of gentle music to intense music

I'm still shocked Game of Thrones hasn't been used more frequently, such beautiful music and a variety of different characters/stories to portray.

Guess it's idiomatic.....

To say that one doesn't care for something, or that it's not one's favourite, was also the British/Canadian English I was raised with. (And there would have been a correction or even a disciplinary response if I had said I didn't "like" something.). But the "not my favourite" formulation seems to exist in several European languages.

But also have heard "don't like" creeping up in more recent informal speech.....so perhaps much a translation issue as differences in dialects and social customs in the very many places that English is the first language.

Please no. Please no, not ever. I'll be a blubbering crying idiot and never recover. That music is just too awesome and too haunting and I can just see the colossus before me and it kills me every time I hear it. (I'm absolutely terrified of Shadow of the Colossus... once every couple of years I force myself to watch one of those youtube video playthroughs just because... it's soooo pretty and haunting and I cannot stop watching, but it also scares the heck out of me. I do not do well with RPGs set in, like, a deserted area).

Tank! - Cowboy Bebop OST - Yoko Kanno

I don't know if any of these music was use before but I really like them:)
Tank! Definitely, and very recently. Kevin Reynolds skated his SP to it last season. He previously skated to the Legend of Zelda and Chrono Trigger. I'm a big fan. :agree:

Well ... English is not my first language, neither I spent any extended period of time in
Amglophonic country. Your comment came across as sorta euphemistic to me.

Ares, I'm sorry about that. I thought that might have happened, which is why I tried to explain better. I had remembered you saying you are from Poland (I hope I'm remembering this correctly).

I try to be careful with using too many idioms or slang because I know there are many people on GS for whom English is not their first language, but I am not always successful. One of the things I love about GS is how many people are here from different countries. It makes things more interesting, and I love hearing perspectives from other countries. Plus people from different countries sometimes have info that others might not have. And some people even translate articles and interviews, which is SO appreciated (especially about those many Russian skaters I like!). I learn so much from the posters here--and not just about figure skating.

I always wanted to see Brian Orser skate an exhibition program to Dream Police by Cheap Trick.
When he was at his peak I always thought that would be a great song for him to interpret; I thought his face and body could really express the lyrics.

I can't think of any current male skater to assign it to. :scratch2:

I would LOVE to see "Alive" by Sia made into a figure skating program. In a dream world it would be performed by Mao Asada. The potential step sequences :yahoo:
