I wondered what he was going to do after retirement.

Although Google Translate didn't make her sound too enthusiastic.

Good for him, I am glad he has found something after retiring. He probably will continue to do shows, since this is a consultant job and not full coaching. I am sure the young pairs will gain from him.

Who didn't sound enthusiastic, Mozer? It was her idea and she asked him. Thanks to quiqie from FSU, here is the proper translation: #970 post

"It was my idea to invite Robin to our big group. In the upcoming season, we will regularly get in contact, cooperate, exchange opinions. When possible, Robin will visit, attend training camps and competitions. His experience is very interesting, useful, and to some measure, even invaluable. Robin is a very experienced athlete and very good skater. His participation in the work of our group is very interesting to me from this point of view. I like to experiment, try something new. Robin will consult our young pairs, not only juniors. We will start our collaboration in mid-September."

I had to use google translate, and it didn't do a very good job, did it.

That's fine. It's just that the translation from quiqie was there, in the original post, but somehow the link didn't work at first.
I fix it. :)

The fact that Nina reached out to him and invited him shows that he's held in high regard, and that his input will be valued. This is a great move for both Mozer's group and for Robin himself.

I cannot help wondering if one of the first things Mozer wants to know is "tell me everything Ingo taught you and Aliona" e.g. the throw triple axel ;) I'm sure Mozer will use many pieces of info from Robin in her daily coaching of the senior teams too. Very clever move from Nina!

I don't think that Mozer does daily coaching. She also said that she is a manager, and she has put people to follow each couple and work with them on daily basis. I think she's a great manager and choosing Robin shows that as well.
I don't think it's a matter of triple axel more than choreo.transitions etc., as she wants "to experiment, try something new".

Trankov is saying now:
It was our idea actually. When the group expanded and Nina Mikhailovna started considering adding another young specialist to the team. Since the choice in Russia is not wide we decided to learn from the German school see how it works there'
`Robby and us competed on the ice only, but we were always in good terms. He's a smart guy, calm, thinking. I think he'll become a good coach. It's not as if there were skaters to work with in Germany. Just kids'

This is a great move for both sides, a win-win idea. They could learn from each other. In long term, Robin will gain experience and be a great coach himself, if he wants to coach.

Didn't Steuer went to Moskovina's training camp some years ago?

According to Mozer he will be working with Davankova/Enbert and Tarasova/Morozov. Both teams are seniors, but it is their first senior season.

Video from Szolkowy's wedding day:
(Text attached to the video) A really heartwarm "thank you" to all who made our wedding so special. Your wave of congrats overwhelmed us ... thanks to our family, to friends, to the friends of friends and to all the media representatives!!!

One of the congratulatory comments below the video is from Ingo Steuer.

Sorry that the wedding video is off topic for this thread.
Could not find which GS thread already has still photos from Szolkowy's wedding. Do not think(??) that video already was posted on GS.

Tip o' the hat to the ISU Figure Skating FB page.

Reinvented Szolkowy turns to pro skating, coaching
Five-time German world champion joins Mozer's group in Moscow

Icenetwork met with Szolkowy during the Nebelhorn Trophy in Oberstdorf, where he is coaching one of Mozer's teams, Evgenia Tarasova and Vladimir Morozov.

The full interview here: http://web.icenetwork.com/news/2014/09/24/96189814

He plans to try full-time coaching and also to organize events. He has signed the contract of employment with Mozer.
He is going to work mainly with Tarasova&Morozov, who are here at Nebelhorn Trophy, and Davankova&Enbert.

I'm so happy for Davankova&Enbert working with Robin. :yay:
