Gosh, I hate answering this because I feel like I'm being biased, but the Americans have the best loops in my opinion (Any other country can take any other jump!! Haha, except maybe Gracie's lutz).

But in history, Carolina's was gorgeous (still not considering her in the current group until she starts competing.). Michelle Kwan, Sasha Cohen, Tara Lipinski (she did two in a row, DUH)....ugh AMERICANS I know I know... :bang: haha!

I love it when a triple loop is used to accent the music. It's just so "springy" and almost unexpected - by that I mean the takeoff doesn't involve a three turn or Mohawk, but simply a back outside edge.

My favourite example: Gracie at the Olympics.

Whenever Gracie messed up in her opening combo in Firebird she would do her 3Lo right on the beat of the music. She had some rough 3Los in her post Olympics year. This one looks really light and easy.

Loop isn't my favorite jump, but if I have to say, I think Mao's 3Loop is great (when she lands them without UR...)

Very nice. :) OGM-worthy 3L-3L. ;)

I think however, my ideal triple loop really has "spring" to it. 3L tends to be "spun", but truly great 3Ls show the actual power in a skater's take-off/landing leg. It's the only jump that isn't assisted with a swinging-through free leg or a vaulting pick, so it really requires a great deal of strength, timing, and control.

Because I had a case of the dumbs back on page one, here is Max's actual 3Lo, and not Brendan's (very nice) 3A-3T :palmf:

I know that Max started as a Hockey Player but he's becoming a great dancer. Have a look at his posture on the landing of that loop. His shoulders are relaxed and pressed down giving him a gorgeous line which makes him look tall and strong even when he's in Plie'. I hope that made sense.

I love this one! Totally forgot all about it. I was just about to say it's like a Lori Nichol staple, but then I remembered Marina did Gracie's Sleeping Beauty. So it's just a Gracie staple. ;)

I didn't list Ilia Kulik earlier since I've already been talking about his Loop in the other thread, but it struck me when looking at more of his Loops just how great they were. Most people turn a full half revolution on the ice for the Loop takeoff, but Kulik took less than that and yet still completed his rotations entirely in the air, going past the point of being perfectly backwards even, and floated down from the air that far around. Very remarkable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pndyfifuHo&t=4m48s

Sorry for the :eek:topic: but I love that meme.

This was absolutely me today. :palmf: I can't even use the "Friday" defense because it's only Thursday.

Ilia's jumps are just - they're almost surreal. That 3Lo is practically jump porn.

There are many skaters with fabulous ... rittbergers :p Some names that spring to mind (pun intended):

Kostner, Wagner, Asada, Ando, Lipinsky, Butyrskaya, Slutskaya.

Chan, Hanyu, Takahashi, Kulik, Oda, Fernandez.

Well he's so far around on the jump that being slightly forward on the blade is hardly an issue. That landing is actually perfect with the music, the way the skate grips and gently rocks back, reflecting the energetic beat of the piano note. I wouldn't say anything is really wrong with his posture either, it's right in line with the blade. Jumping in the style of the music is something people should do more of.
