Her professional development away from skating continues.

... I'm not 100% sure what "surrogate outreach" comprises, but I know Michelle will be good at it.
I'd rather vote for Michelle than Hillary, lol. This is a good career move for her, and I can even see Michelle running for office someday.
Not sure how I feel about this, but Michelle has always followed her heart so she must feel this is the right thing for her.

Yes, I've been thinking this too. When her hubby lost the electiopn in RI I thought 'they should have run Michelle' Michelle is a good speaker and tough as nails. She could definately do politics.
It's interesting how this is a tiny blip on CNN's website, but it was all over the local Chinese news on TV when it was announced.
Here is a funny article about the political views of our other favorite skaters. Tonya Harding is mad at President Obama, Kristi Yamaguchi supported Mitt Romney, and Tara Lipinski wants to take Obama skating.

Hmm. I think Michelle comes off as a flaky LA type in interviews. I would never say she is a good speaker or articulate. She smiles, uses her good will, and keeps her mouth shut. As she probably should.
Meanwhile, just curious:
Your "local" Chinese news broadcast is based where?
In other words, are you in the U.S., and if so, what state, city, etc.? (If you are comfortable answering.)
This would be Southern California, Los Angeles area.
