Tohoku-Hokkaido Regional is also happening this weekend.
Haruka Imai’s SP is Legends of the Fall by Phillip Mills and FS is Primavera by Pasquale Camerlengo.
This is the 3rd skater from TJ ladies who is using Legends of the Fall. The other two are Yuka Nagai (FS) and Rin Nitaya (FS)
She’s already finished her SP.

I would never have thought he'd medal here. In fact, all 3 of the TJ bronze medalists this JGP season have been surprises.
I haven’t gone back to check, but I remember thinking that his spins were weak at his last JGP outing so I hope he can improve on it. His jumps are quite low and I wonder if he can get them higher when he gets some muscles. I like his skating though. I like Sota’s skating too so I’m going to give credit to Coach Onishi for that!

I agree. Without 3A or quads, I never thought Koshiro and Mitsuki would get the podium. Actually, to be honest, they could make it this time because other skaters with such high elements failed in FS. I thought Kazuki might have a chance, although it was tough to get the Gold.

I suppose Mitsuki had practiced spins more than before because Ohnishi sensei should have known it was his weak point. Ted Barton said after his FS "Mitsuki was shaking his head. I'm not quite sure what he was shaking his head about."

I could be sure it was about his spin

As Yuzuru said, "Efforts may lie." But I'm quite sure Mitsuki would continue his efforts for the future not to waste his efforts so far. Is there any possibility he could succeed quads first? His jumps are not so high, but I think they have a distance comparatively

At best, she could be be on the local news in Niigata, and someone might post it somewhere... but I wouldn’t hold my breath for it. Let's hope she skates in the final few groups that gets televised at Nationals.

I thought Kazuki had a chance, but I wasn't sure how he usually skates early in the season. Going to JW might have fired him up

Ted must have been looking away for a couple of seconds during the spin  Totally understable if he were, it must get exhausting sitting there for hours.
I saw this attempt from Mitsuki in April and thought he might be working on the 4T because it would be unlikely he'd fall on a 3T like that.

I really love Satoko's FP dress. Some people say it's hard to see her, but I disagree. There's no sleeve, the skirt is short, the back is not hidden... nothing to prevent from enjoying her program. :luv17: But for the men.... yeah... I know what you mean, lol! Oh well, guess I'll get used to it. (er, Yuzu, you're sure you don't want to change the pants?)

I guess ladies are helped by not covering their legs (and arms or even backs) with white that can make the contrast between them and the ice easily than men, in addition to white-colored dresses would make ladies look even more fairy or/and princessy, right? and I agree on Satoko’s costume.

About Mao’s costumes this season. Thanks goodness I love looove both costumes of her that brings her justice into her performances along with her passionate movements in my eyes  (Oh, so as for Yuzu..I would say it’s ok if he has a strong belief with his WHITE no matter what others are thinking. Maybe It is me who might have to change her taste..only in the season ya?:drama:)

Very nice video! I thought Rika could be in it, but Kanako? She's nowhere near being a challenger. I'm sorry, but this is the truth.

I should know it but you know, I don’t want to acknowledge that yet and there will be always hopes ;)

Marin and Rika slayed! I wish we could see the videos. I hope they continues to skate well throughout the season :)

The rest of the top 5 skated great as well. I hope Kaori gets her revenge for the popped 2A at the JGPF and skates clean!

Nice to see Kazuki go for 4S, I hope it was rotated :)

Japanese girls are really wow :hb:

I want to see what the competition would be when Marin is in good condition. Or, this time, she might have skated without a pressure in a meaning

Anyway, I hope this result gave her confidence in herself.

So glad to see her controlling her illness and doing well. I hope she keeps it up for the GPs.

Podium photo of Rika, Marin and Kaori.

Combined news clips about Rika and Marin at Kinki Regional after SP.

This article says that Marin fell sick after she returned from JGP Slovenia and had a fever of 40 degrees (celsius), couldn’t stop coughing and couldn’t eat so she lost about 3~4kg which she hasn’t gotten back yet. She was finally able to do run-throughs 7 days before this competition.
Poor baby. No wonder she skated badly at Carnival on Ice.

I'm hoping to see Rika and Marin's programs in their full lengths. I vaguely remember seeing videos from Chubu Regional before, but have no idea if local channels in Kansai do that.

Nobu's nephew who competed under Novice B is also in there around 5:40. He is so funny!
He was asked if Nobu gave him any advice for the competition and he replied, "Not particularly. We don't get along." He was asked if something happened between them and he said, "Many things." Also, he says that he wants to "exceed Nobunari" with an implication that Nobu is just an average skater

There is so many ladies and junior ladies, even more than in Russian tourneys!
But there is more girls in Russia in youngest categories, I wonder why?

I see Kaori was second in SP over Rika! Also, what is the difference between Marin's "kansai univ.jhs.shs sc" and Rika's "Kansai univ.Kaisers Fsc" - aren't they training in the same group?

Marin is just giving points away with these level 2 step sequences! If she had gotten level 3 for steps in either the short or the long, she would have beaten Rika

I noticed that there seems to a couple of really promising novice b girls in Chubu! I'm looking forward to novice nats, I would have thought Iwano was a sure thing for novice a ladies but she'll have some competition... Same for Sato in the boys.

After the JGP finished up I wanted to talk about how hopeful I am for the Japanese men and I came here only to see that other people feel the same as me! This is the first time in quite a while that no Japanese man has qualified for the JGPF but at the same time I think they all did pretty well and I'm looking forward to all of their futures.
