It should be Angela Wang and then Amber Glenn for the openings in the GP where Gracie W/D but only if the spots are going to be filled, that's who they should go to as far as US ladies are concerned.

According to most recent list, posted a few pages ago, these are the current choices; I don't think Angela is eligible:

34 Glenn USA
35 Hicks USA -- just added to Skate Canada
41 Matsuda JPN
42 Sakhanovich RUS
45 Nitaya JPN
49 Tennell USA - filled Skate America TBD
50 Schott GER - now at Rostelcom
55 Craine AUS -- just added to Skate Canada
56 Ogoreltseva RUS -- not sure of her status
57 Lozko RUS -- not sure of her status
60 Kihara JPN -- doing JGP & not eligible?
61 Peltonem FIN
62 Nagai JPN

Interesting that Wang placed better than Glenn in events past two years and won or placed 2nd in her Senior B's and they're in the same USFSA envelope (Angela being placed higher) yet this....

Cup of China already have 3 Japanese and 3 Russian ladies. So the replacement there can't be from Japan or Russia.
Internationaux de France have 3 Russian Ladies.

What about Caroline Zhang?

She kinda got screwed over, she should have probably been given one grand prix spot and Gracie one grand prix spot originally. Now it looks like she can't even be chosen, because she's not on that list. But at nationals she did better than Courtney Hicks and Bradie Tennell, she also did good at regionals and sectionals. She probably did't have many or any international events, which i'm guessing is why she isn't on the list. Then she gets passed over for the host pick, because Bradie was a little more ready in the early part of the season. Poor Caroline, she really struggled and had a good comeback, I hope she can continue improving and regain some of her status so in the future she won't be passed over by the federation.

That’s right. So there’s no way that Sakhanovich can be Gracie’s replacement, as there are already 3 Russian ladies competing at Gracie’s events.
A Japanese lady could be invited to France, but i think that one of the ladies with a lower seasons’ best (aka not a threat) will get the spot.
The US doesn’t have any say on who replaces Gracie, do they?
For some reason I find it funny that Courtney or Bradie could get the spot because in the beginning neither had any spot at all, and now there’s a chance they could get 2!!! Ice is always slippery any anything can happen.

Well she was injured, so she doesn't have a Season's Best to put her on the list. USFSA stuff has no effect on the sub list. It's unfortunate for her, but it makes sense.

What do you mean she should have been given one GP spot originally? Gracie wasn't chosen for Skate America, so it's not like it was a host pick. Except for Challenge Cup last year, which doesn't count for ISU scores or WS points, Caroline hadn't competed internationally for a couple of years, so she didn't have a SB and would have had a super low World Standing. She wouldn't have been in the mix for spots, except for host picks. And none of the other federations were likely to use a host pick on an American skater.

The US fed can have max 3 American ladies at SA. They chose Karen and Ashley and left one TBD. I doubt you can argue that Karen and Ashley shouldn't have been picked. So the only option for Caroline to get a GP spot was for her to get the last host pick instead of Bradie. And Bradie had the stronger summer results, so she got the spot. And she was also stronger than Caroline at their respective Challenger events, so Caroline was hardly passed over by the Federation.

Uh...are the rostelecom cup people purposely picking skaters they know have no chance of medaling?

Do you really think that there is anyone who does not have two spots yet, but can medal against the likes of Medvedeva, Higuchi, Kostner, Nagasu, Tursynbaeva and Radionova?

Also well, i suppose each GP gets a lot from a fed's $$$. So makes all sense they want to maximize the placements of their skaters at the home event. Any fed that does not do it is plain stupid.

Yura Matsuda? Came within 2.80 points of Carolina Kostner at Lombardia (score 195.56), beating both Tuktamysheva (in decent form so far this season) and Galustyan (by 65 points). She's also in the alternates list, but doesn't have a single slot (despite 4 ladies having been replaced so far...).

Hopefully she can get Gracie Gold's slot at IDF (they should have no axe to grind) - there's already 3 Japanese ladies at Cup of China.

Yura doesn't have two spots? France makes sense for her, as Mihoko Higuchi will go there with Shoma Uno anyway, so no big deal.

Kostner is just one of them. Even if she is off, three more of those listed need to be beaten for Yura to medal.

Of course, it would be good if she could participate, but if she had gotten the spot, some people would say smaller federations should get more of a chance.
