And so so so proud of Andrew for getting stronger instead of weaker after having already competed today.

Bravo to that too! That' was amazing thing to pull off.

And Boyang with mini hearts.... :yahoo::luv17: He was robbeddddd.

The judges rewarded Keiji with lots +GOE on the 3A, as they should have. But Jason got quite a bit of +GOE on the jumps outside the 3A too. And the spin and step points counts too. There's also PCS.

I know. It just feels strange to me that a quadless program with a mistake on the 3A should be so close to 90, no matter what.

I will never understand Shoma Uno GOE. His pcs are well deserved but his jumps landing are so scrappy. His free leg is practically wrapped around his other leg when he lands and is crooked not to mention it is nearly scrapping the ice. Also the 4F might have been underrotated

Not all quadless programs are equal. Jason racks up the points, what can one say? He's been scoring 89-90 on that program even with a jump error all season long. This skate was very similar to the one at Skate Canada, where he made the same exact error on the 3A.

OHHHHH I'm so happy for Boyang!! He looks to be in full health in in good shape and finally got over 100!!:yahoo: Sooooo proud of him!!!

those new facial expression of Boyang  I can vividly imagine him having fun practicing those in front of a mirror :laugh2: Good for him!

Re Judge no1 (Canadian) I think he just has a stricter standard, as he was on the stricter side of Shoma's scores, too;) personally I'd haven given Shoma an UR on the 4flip but it's a very close call that could go both ways and the only reason I wouldn't give him the benefit of the doubt is because of his pre-rotation, but I'm pretty OK with the decisions of the tech panel today! :luv17:

Right? Why can't we get a good medium? [emoji30]

the good median of scores across competitions is a non-existent concept for me, when there is too much difference in general scoring standard, especially GOEs awarding and PCS, hence we are often confusing about contrasts/extremes watching e.g. Euros with 4CC back-to-back...

Judge 1 also gave Jason +1 on his final spin when the others gave +2 or +3. Clearly seeing a completely different short program.

No quad and a mistake on the 3A while Keji showed a good quad and a very good 3A. Keji also interpreted the music well. Of course Jason's spins were better. But all in all it should make a bigger difference between them in my opinion.

The elements have set values, and GOE is awarded based on execution. Jason lost -1.86 on the 3A. He got at least +1 on all his other elements. What you’re basically saying is that the judges should either have given him lower PCS because he didn’t attempt a quad or lower GOE for the other elements for the same reason - or the reverse for Keiji. That’s not how it works.

We need more of this judge for the ladies event

Boyang and Jason should get small medals for getting StSq4 with this tech specialist! HA.

I'm full of terrible jokes.

To be fair, that kind of point difference is more of a product of dealing with numbers than judges desicion. Judges thought they equally deserve the first place :agree:

Well I am fine with that but why no reward the skater who went clean, had the levels and really created a moment? Just saying that Boyang deserved to be 1st here, and Shoma not too far behind him.

Oh well, regardless of the scores, so happy with this event! I had to do stand for Boyang (and Keiji), I think he's definitely improving and his jumps were great! Love Shoma, had to groan a bit at the 2T instead of the 3T, but still first! His costume is so sparkly, lol.

I wanted to cry after Elladj's skate, he's so passionate. Also really liked Brendan Kerry, and I was surprised he didn't break 80 (but apparently it's the first of a few surprisingly low scores). Also enjoyed Julian from Malaysia, Denis Ten (I was so happy after his skate.

Mura is pretty eye-catching in person. I didn't expect that. Too bad about the popped 4T.

Well, if you judge something like the performance in PC, then a mistake on a jump can have an impact on the overall program. A 9 is maybe too high then. But as I said, it is more of a feeling that tells me there should be a larger gap between both, maybe 3 to 5 points. Blame the system or the judges for it or just my feeling.

I meeeean.. I think I would have loved to see the top two switched? So 0.32 with Boyang in first? But its okay - theres still always the free skate.
