Is it bad that I want them to mess up?
Because I want the Shibs leading. They deserve it.
Yep, this is Ladies these days though. The lack of spiral sequences or any truly beautiful held movements (aside from a requisite catch-foot position), the convoluted step sequences, and the insistence to throw in meaningless transitions that break up the flow and emotion of the skating.
Did anybody else find the ladies a bit boring today? Everyone did what was expected in a workmanlike way. Scorewise, the only point of interest was that Bradie Tennell came close to Satoko Miyahara. This should help Bradie's PCSs later in the Games. (Bradie looks so much like her mother!)
I think figure skating needs to work on its judging because currently it's losing fans. I watched with just some casual olympic fans, and they all thought the scoring was absolutely ridiculous. To a casual watcher, it makes absolutely no sense that Bradie should be almost 15 points between Evgenia if you just look at the skating with fresh eyes and throw out reputation judging....
Reputation judging really hurts the sport and loses casual viewers. Evgenia was solid but that score is :disagree:
Scoring is bogus, but Evgenia is definitely the only person who should be in first after that short program event. Also, it seems that her interpretation has improved vastly, even from the EC 2018. I guess her living her dream is motivating her to put out her best.
Mark McMorris just threw down a big score one slope style. In first by quite a bit right now.
The problem is that there aren't just placements, but scores and casual viewers look at scores and just don't get it. They honestly don't see these point spreads that occur based on unfortunately a lot of reputation judging. It's frustrating to watch skating with other people because you can tell they are always super confused and look to you to explain the scores. And honestly most of the time I can't explain the scores based on what was actually put on the ice that day I 100% support of Evgenia winning the short but her score in relation to others is mind boggling
what's with dabin's pcs? 6s? do the judges really think she's less artistic than... tennell?
so much for 'home ice advantage'...
