They have assigned scorers for each discipline who total up the scores after the events for us. They even keep a spreadsheet running that keeps the current scores of the season. Just make a prediction and see how you do. Even if you don’t know a discipline well you can still put them into a random order and hope for the best. You’ll need all the points you can get because some of these peeps are good. I just aim to beat Mrs P and I never have

One more questions. I have seen many people leave a message "Placeholder". Did I understand correctly that I can edit my record (for example, insert a prediction about men, which I did not do)? How do organizers struggle with possible obvious cheating? Do they close the thread just before the competition until the predictions will be counted?

5. Starr ANDREWS (159.76)
6. Polina TSURSKAYA (154.61)
———
7. Marin HONDA (178.89)

If Sakamoto can have that score with a nightmare skate and Miyahara can have quite a good one with that score I back Sakamoto. Radionova is a wild card, you can’t quite count out a two time European silver medalist. With Honda something in my gut says no, I like her but no.

Men:
1. Nathan CHEN (N/A)
2. Matteo RIZZO (227.97)
3. Vincent ZHOU (204.62)
4. Sergei VORONOV (239.73)

7. Michal BREZINA (208.27)
8. Julian Zhi Jie YEE (201.29)
9. Kevin REYNOLDS (198.83)

Mostly guts again. I think Zhou will thrive under pressure and support.

Pairs:
1. Evgenia TARASOVA / Vladimir MOROZOV (198.98)
2. Ashley CAIN / Timothy LEDUC (181.56)
3. Minerva Fabienne HASE / Nolan SEEGERT (161.61)

5. Alisa EFIMOVA / Alexander KOROVIN (178.94)
6. Nica DIGERNESS / Danny NEUDECKER (150.83)

Here I just used their seasons best scores (in brackets) but gave Knierim/Knierim a home town advantage.

Dance:
1. Madison HUBBELL / Zachary DONOHUE (197.42)
4. Charlene GUIGNARD / Marco FABBRI (193.28)
3. Lorraine MCNAMARA / Quinn CARPENTER (178.64)
4. Lilah FEAR / Lewis GIBSON (160.61)
5. Alexandra NAZAROVA / Maxim NIKITIN (N/A)
6. Tiffani ZAGORSKI / Jonathan GUERREIRO (N/A)
———
7. Robynne TWEEDALE / Joseph BUCKLAND (153.59)
8. Natalia KALISZEK / Maksym SPODYRIEV (141.63)
9. Katharina MÜLLER / Tim DIECK (147.15)

Here I used a mixture of both ways, gut plus scores.

This is H/D’s to lose but McN/C could do well as they both have the home advantage. GUI/FAB had the home advantage in Lombardia where their score comes from but they won’t here, however I doubt they’ll drop 20 points so they should be safe.

4, 5 & 6 were hard. NAZ/NIC and ZAG/GUE have not competed yet but both couples were at the Olympics and beat F/G at Worlds. However, I just so completely love F/G’s Free (and I’m biased) so I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt here.

The bottom three are based on points but I placed M/D last as they got that score in Germany so it doesn’t look good for them.

Bradie can really just rely on mistakes from her opponents to get her to gold. I love and would like to believe in Tiny Queen, but URs :bang: IF Sakamoto goes clean, she can easily get her gold. Loena Hendrickx has also made quite an impression from Worlds to Nebelhorn, and I would hope for her to get a GP medal.

Alright.. I changed it up a little bit. I think Nathan's been struggling a bit recently, so took a bit of a risk and put Voronov on top.

My favorite discipline! No Chinese Pairs here, but still a nice lineup. Gold is easy. They should have GP season in the bag, with many of the top teams not competing. I can see the French edging them out in the GPF though, esp with the momentum. This is also the year for the Knierims to step it up. I'll be rooting for them :cheer:

Most people (myself included) cut and paste from the OP and it makes sense. I would urge those who use different ways of typing predictions to double check what they type. I skimmed through first ladies predictions and found out "Turskaya", "Tennel", and "Tenell" Correct typing the last names is the key to efficient scorers' work when there are 100+ predictions. And technically the above-mentioned predictions can be disqualified at scorer's discretion.

One more thing. It happened before that there were 2 different prediction posts from the same user. Like only ladies in the first one and the full set with different ladies prediction in the second one. These cases were discussed among scorers. Technically ladies prediction in such a case can be disqualified alltogether.

I think it's the autocorrect. I'm trying to type the name and add it as a new word. My dictionary is growing on my kindle.

Firstly, I have some good news.

For the first time ever, there will be a prize for the overall winner come the end of the Predictions Game!!!

:cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

gsk8 has very kindly donated four GS Supporters packages, which will be presented to the overall winner of each of the four Predictions Games that are being held this season:

  1. Senior Grand Prix Predictions Game
  2. National Championships Predictions Game
  3. Junior ISU Championships Predictions Game
  4. Senior ISU Championships Predictions Game

Thank you to gsk8 for this kind gesture. It will certainly add an extra dimension to the Predictions Games.

There are clear rules about deadlines posted in the GP game rules thread. The mods have the data on the time of the last edit: before it was visible to everyone. I think that it makes sense to reintroduce it just for the predictions threads. The caught cheaters' scores (even if involuntary) are dismissed. Those who made a border like violation such as changing the prediction 30 minutes before the competition starts (the deadline is 1 hour) are discussed among scorers. But usually their predictions are dismissed as well.

Can I just add, in the past, the "1 hour before the start of the first SP" was just a recommended time to get your predictions in by, so that players weren't running around at the last minute trying to make predictions. Back then, we would have allowed predictions for each category right up to the start of their SP.

But now that the last edit time is not visible, that "1 hour before the start of the first SP" has become a set deadline so that the scorers have time to get the predictions saved before the start of the competition, to prevent cheating.

And hard as it may be to believe, but cheating has happened in the Predictions Game. One time we had somebody completely change their Men's predictions after the SP was over. But because we could see the time of the last edit, we were able to check with a Mod what changes were made, and the player was duly disqualified.

One more time. After I wrote about mistakes in the last names immediately 2 more predictions appeared with "Tennel", "Miahara", and "Tsurtskaya". I won't score SA and I don't know if the ladies scorer will be lenient. But when I score I will give 0 points to every prediction with a wrong last name spelling. It is not because I am evil or because I want to feel "I've got the power!" The algorithm used by me and some other scorers relies on changing the last names to codes. Like I type in excel: replace *Miyahara* by Miy. Then the algorithm calculates the scores. It won't understand that Miahara is the same as Miyahara, won't replace it with the code and the score won't be calculated. I cannot use abbreviations like replace *Hon* with Hon because other skaters (Hongo and Honda) and even users might be affected.

samkrut put in a lot of work devising the algorithm that we use to do the scoring. So, it is no wonder that he is frustrated when he sees so many spelling mistakes that would mess it up.

Copying and pasting names from the entry list is far and away the easiest way of making out your list of predictions. So, I don't understand why players would even think of doing it any other way, especially if that other way incurs the risk of being disqualified.

Make life easy for yourself, and for the scorers. Copy and Paste is your friend!
