Max "I Will Never Cheer For Zagitova" Tran'kov has been converted to Zagistans

I thought Trankov was always quite supportive of Alina since she won Olympics? Didn't he post a photo with her when she was younger (after his olympic win) saying something like "and now she is an olympic champion"? Or was that Volosozhar?

Supportive? Hell, no. Bragging that he had a photo with little Alina, yes.

Big hug for Alina. She fought through the program, and though it wasn't the skate she wanted, I know she can come back and do so much better. Hope her team helps her through this...

It’s ok, she’ll do better at the nationals. A little slap to fire her spirit. It’s a pity she felt on the double axel but she skated last, she should skate first or second before the 3A.

Usually Alina did well when skating last or second to last. But there is no reason speculate what would happen when, it's just reality and now it is necessary to hold on and focus on the next competition (russian nationals). After all, that's what Alina said herself several times, every competition is the new one.

It was like a Norma Desmond moment for Alina tonight against those youngsters. Really sad to watch but I thought it would come last year against Kihira. Still don't know how she managed to lift herself mentally and physically to be the World Champion. Amazing story.

But I fear this is last we saw of Alina at international competitions. She is going be an incredible show skater with her improved charisma, skating skills and beauty.

I think Alina needs to rest a little bit. She had 2 toughest hardest seasons any senior can imagine, Olympic one and then the growth spurt one.
In both, she fought like a warrior.
IMO, I think she must be tired, mentally. Nothing's wrong with her jumps, she skates all her practices cleanly
Competitions require mental prep, and I think she's just a little bit exhausted mentally after those 2 years.
A restful 2nd half of the season would be a great way to prepare well for the next season.

Resistance is futile
True.

I can not understand one thing. If Yuzuru has some problems nobody sends him on retirment. Whan Alina is not 100,% there is already talk about retirment. She does not have to win always. Her performance still causes standing ovation.
That is interesting.

Alysa Liu: “Olympic programme that inspires me the most is the free skate by Alina Zagitova. Because she landed every single jump and scored the maximum possible number of points. It motivates me to work even harder.”

Awww Alysa it's so nice to Alina.

I think we have witnessed the difference between teenagers at the first senior season with all their energy, hungry for victories, enjoying every moment of that new experience against the burden to be yet Olympic, euro, world champion with everything to lose and with a woman body that not let you to be explosive as in the past.
I think Alina managing quite well that...she fought until the last jump, spin, steps. For a while I was worried ghosts of Milan could come to her head but she finished the program with all she had.
Very proud of this young woman, she’s an example.

That's of course a good question how 3A will deliver next season or next two compared to Alina. First season senior with big advantage over the rest is good motivation and maybe they have the advantage that there are two more seasons till the olympics, it can motivate them to remain on top for a longer time. But it is also possible that in a year or two they will be in the same situation Alina is now and they will have to find the strength to continue.

I might not be popular with this post but I saw this coming...
She had basically no chance to medal and she had to skate last. I'm impressed she held it together as well as she did. Good fight from her, I'm proud. I will pretend this FS did not happen, and will only remember the fantastic SP.

I'm very grateful for Eteri for what she's done for Alina but I thought maybe the pattern of tossing aside her older champions for new ones is going to change.
I don't know why I thought that. But it's okay. Others have gone trough that, Alina will have to as well.

Possibly triggering content follows in brackets:
(I don't see the point of skating in Team Tut anymore. It's the same situtation as with EM. Either retire or change coaches. I'm sorry but that's my opinion.)

Anyway, I love Alina and will support whatever she does.

Why it would not be possible to medal? 153 for the free skate Alina needed is nothing she wouldn't be capable of. I truly don't understand what any other coach could offer to her. And I don't think she would accept the change of environment again.

Still a beautiful performance from Alina despite the mistakes. :luv17: Hopefully she just needs more time to adjust to her growth spurts and will be back with a vengeance soon. :)

Nothing wrong with voicing your opinion.
I think we all want what's best for Alina.
What that ends up being, who knows?

I think I agree with Nussnacker who said Alina should probably take the rest of the season off.
But I always worry what something like that would mean in Russia, where the Ladies field is so deep.
I would hope it wouldn't be held against her the following season.

I also think Alina will be (and already is) a magnificent show skater.
I also think she has much more to offer in the world of competitive skating too.

But I think the mindset this season of "skate for the joy" was good in theory.
Not so much in reality. How DO you motivate yourself to "kick butt" in that case?
She has shown in the past how huge her competitive heart is. Winning the Olympics for example.

I really hope she finds her competitve "spark" again.

I don't think it's puberty issue. Almost everyone the journalists, coaches, so-called specialists talked about retirement. Even her fans think she cannot beat 3A ANYMORE. But for Alina, it's apparent that she still want to fight. She knows the power of quads, she so damn wants it. If she doesn't have desire to fight, she can just go out and present a clean program. PCS will help her step on the podium in this event.

I don't know if it's a good sign that she still want to challenge the top place, but it certainly will be a tough time from now both for her and her fans. Waiting for 4F/4lz is extremely anxious and difficult for us but what can we do? Alina is a fighter, she chooses to fight. All we can do is to support her as usual. I actually love her spirit of encouragement.

I'm sad for Alina, but I know this girl will get better and better.
I always thought she would have a long career. Maybe the spectacular debut of 3As challenge my thought, I still believe in Alina.
Today, It's another Milan circumstance. Remember that event? She was sick before WC and lost weight, her puberty issue suddenly attacked her, her training was disaster before that event---without any clean training according to her. So I always thought, her failure was due to lack of confidence that time. She was not confident about her techniques.
Right now, it's the same situation. She certainly can present a beautiful program. But she is not confident about her current technical lay-out.
Maybe in this tread, we can always be positive but the truth is that she needs quad. I think Alina wants it too.
I actually don't care about this season. Even though she still participates in every contest, she has so many off-ice activities. It's kind of " rest" for her.
If she still wants to continue her career, it's necessary to land quads. If she landed one, her career will certainly extend a lot. I think it's also Alina's wish.
All we can do is waiting. I believe in her. But I still know sports is crucial. I hope everything will get better.
It's certainly a difficult time. But it can turned to a legend at last. If nothing changed, she failed to challenge herself. It's still worthy to try. TRYING is important.
She is a legend already, and right now she is head to another miracle place.
I'm glad she is a fighter. She has changed a lot, but she is still that little girl full of will to fight.
