 Having good thoughts for the people of Japan affected by the earthquake, land slides and flooding. There was 30 seconds of coverage
on the US TV media in between endless hours of political drivel, in fighting, and devisivness.

I can't bear to watch US "news" programs anymore. They leave me with a bad taste in my mouth and the growing worry that our (US) society is on the verge of breaking apart. There is so much tribalism in the US right now, fueled by a certain "news" network and by the flooding of knee-jerk reactionary posts on social media that have become the new standard of "news" (it drives me nuts that legitimate news organizations report things that come out on Twitter as though it is gospel, with what feels like no fact checking...). I would prefer to live in ignorance rather than listen to that insidiousness. I get my US news from international sources like BBC, which I'm sure have their own biases, but at least feels more objective when it comes to US news. Anything is more objective than our own news media.:sarcasm:

All that nonsense aside, it is awful what happened over there. I hope all the residents and aid workers will be safe over the next few days as aftershocks continue to hit.

10-4. I have to DVR the local and national news, its so badly done, and fast forward through 3/4 of it. Many countries like the UK and Canada seem to do a much better job. I wonder if they waste 100s of millions of dollars on political ads that could go to actually helping people like we do in the states? I vote we take all the Viagra ad money and help the Japanese people...
