When were the tech panels actually assigned for the GPF? I have to believe it was long enough ago that the final roster of GPF competitors wasn't yet known.
Maria Tumanovskaya is known Ukrainian Ice Dance coach.
She is coach of Maria NOSULIA / Evgeni KHOLONIUK (8th place at JrWorlds 2012).
Given the appalling judging at COR, I'd be just as interested in hearing who the full judging panels are for the event.
I feel confident the Ice Dance panel is going to be strict but fair. The referee has very little involvement and does not materially affect calls. The Technical Controller is the Chairwoman of ISU Ice Dance committee - given the mess we saw at CoR, it's rather reassuring to see her as the Technical Controller. Having a Technical Specialist who is a 3rd party at this competition and who is not likely to be "influenced" is also reassuring. The only ? mark I have is the Ukrainian assist tech specialist whom I believe is really a Russian. However, given whom the Tech Controller and the Tech Specialist are at this event, I don't expect this to be an issue.
Mao ur'ed almost all jumps in her LP and almost none of them were called as such.
Not a good news for Asada, Wagner and Sotnikova. I don't think Amano going to call Asada's single looking loops as 2lo or Wagner and Sotnikova's cheated 3+3's. Lipniskaia's borderline flutz can be a problem for her too.
Not sure how you can call Asada's 2L as looking like a single but then say Lipnitskaia's flutz is borderline. Amano is strict and should certainly call out Sotnikova/Lipnitskaia and any flutzes.
