The AP and CBC's round up of Rostelecom Cup 2017: http://www.cbc.ca/sports/olympics/w...m-cup-figure-skating-saturday-final-1.4365762
There was a post in the Australian thread about their new Olympic uniforms. I wanted to post about the worst, absolutely worst, Canadian ones, but I could not find a picture anywhere. In fact, I started to question my memory (and sanity).
Does anyone remember bright yellow Olympic uniforms that kind of looked like a firefighter's coat? I thought they were for winter, but they may have been summer. Anyone know what year they were from? They were plug ugly, as well as being yellow, which is such an un-Canadian colour.
I checked the entry lists for Golden Bear of Zagreb and Canada actually has 3 entries. In junior ladies Hannah Dawson and Lissa-Anne McGaghey. In junior men Beresford Clements.
BC/YK Section- Autumn Leaves 2017 results are up- of particular note- Senior Ladies Event:

Emily is too young for Pyeongchang Olympics- by 24 days- but nonetheless a Skate Canada Next Gen standout that would have likely had 2 JGP spots this year is it wasn't for the OS's- will make a run for this year's National Senior Team and make Skate Canada give her a solid look for the lone Junior World's Ladies spot.....

Doesn’t the fact that now almost 10-years old children start to do quads sсare you?
– I have one of such skaters. He does all quads, including lutz, and he is only 12 years old. I guess, he said that he did his first triple axel three years ago. How old was he, nine?
But these jumps do not become easier for execution. What has changed? Technique? Or just light-weight boots?
– ... When I look at how my 12-year-old athlete works on combination of quad lutz and toeloop, I’m just puzzled, trying to imagine myself on his place. He even has no fear: just a jump, nothing special.
Can such jumping loads provoke early injuries? Much, of course, depends on how much the athlete is technical. My guy has good technique. He has a sports family, his parents were engaged in sports and understand it. Since the growth process at 12 years is in high gear, the athlete periodically has knee pain. But such problems are solved quite simply: we remove the jumping load and work on something else – steps, skating skills, choreography.
– ... I started to notice that, working with Yuzuru, I always watch Javier out the corner of my eye. And vice versa. But it should not be like this, it affects the quality of training. Therefore, actually, the idea of two different ice rinks arose. From time to time me, Javi and Gabby just go to another ice rink and work there, while other specialists of our group work with Yuzuru at our main rink.
Everyone thinks only about the Olympics, sometimes the level of stress goes off scale to such an extent that we decided to attract sports psychologists to work with athletes.
Is it really that serious?
– How to tell you … The same Gabby suffered a rather serious surgery this summer, because of which she now lags behind the training schedule, and sometimes she just needs to talk to someone so that the stress does not grow into a panic.

Conrad & Joseph should also be getting assignments for a senior event soon.
yup... only pure souls can see it.. .like the salchow...4everchan is that unicorn Chiddy's glorious 4S?
I wanted to talk about Piper & Paul's FD. What do you guys think of it? They scored about the same for it at ACI (103.46) as they did in Russia (102.62). However last season they were scoring better with their tango FD. TES were similar, but PCS were 2-3 points higher.
They brought in Jeff Dimitriou to work with them on this free dance. I think he's helped them with their lifts in particular.
If you listened to them on Ice Talk (.mp3 file) you will know they had another idea in mind for the Olympic season. They felt they weren't ready for that, so they went with the film noir theme. They had liked the Hitchcock program but felt it was too cold to do now with their changed chemistry.
Do you think Piper and Paul made the right choice going with this theme? Do you think they should have gone for a program like they had last season? Do you think they should have stuck with their planned Olympic season program? Do you think they should get a new FD altogether? The time to make a big change is now, with a month until Skate America and about 2.5 months until Nationals.
I just can't shake the feeling that despite this FD being what they want and being something different (as they are used to presenting) and being well received with some fans it's not a program that will sit well with the judges or be rewarded. I also think if they continue with this program then next season we'll see a dramatic shift back to more judge-pleasing programs (like what happened after 2015-16).
Thoughts?
yup... only pure souls can see it.. .like the salchow...
well... i am not sure because to me, P&P have amazing programs this year... but perhaps there is a bit of politicking going on right now.... P&P are clearly Canada's number 3 and not really podium contenders... expect to see them being dropped all year by judges. They would usually place much closer to step-bukin but clearly... that's not what happened here...
to me it's not what they are doing on the ice here... it's really about hierarchy.... i find it sad that it seems like that though... i was hoping COP would prevent that.
it will be very hard for weapo as well to get close to the podium.... i bet the russians may score higher than them... it's all about the team event IMHO...
Entries for the 2017 Warsaw Cup have been posted online. From Canada we have signed up

I'm very happy to see these ice dance teams get their international debuts.
Have you heard anything about Weaver and Poje going back to Je suis malade, or is that just fake news I read on here. Moulin Rouge is still listed.
