I was otherwise occupied at the time I normally do this, so just making a start on this now, and then coming back to it tomorrow.

I just checked the Eurosport schedule for Cup of China and it seems they will show everything! Thumbs up!

Actually amazed at this, as both this week’s cycling race and snooker tournament are also from China.

It is the cycling that is being shown on the same channel as the figure skating. So, if it over-runs…

Always record the programmes before and after any skating stuff on Eurosport, they've been known to even go to something early, plus they're never very good at 'extending' programmes like Sky or BT Sport, hence if something overruns you may miss the end of it. Just a tip for anyone not used to the idiosyncrasies of Eurosport.

We need to be careful as Cup of China happens during DST time change, which, unfortunately, does not happen all at once. Europe have already changed and at least N America is still on summer time. I have no idea where China lands. Have they already gone to winter time, like Europe?

If you use the links for "time in other places" that dorispolaski puts in the OP for each event thread, I'm pretty sure they account for any clock changes in each location.

Always record the programmes before and after any skating stuff on Eurosport, they've been known to even go to something early, plus they're never very good at 'extending' programmes like Sky or BT Sport, hence if something overruns you may miss the end of it. Just a tip for anyone not used to the idiosyncrasies of Eurosport.

Ahhh, as a Canadian living in the EST, this schedule is actually not so bad for me, as tomorrow I have my weekly late night synchro practice, which almost always leads to a guaranteed night of insomnia anyway.

Actually, China does not observe DST - it's UTC + 8 all year round. Fun fact: There's no DST change in Japan or South Korea, either

When you go to the pages for the individual event threads(eg SD, Ladies SP, etc), dorispulaski does an excellent first post that includes a "Time in Other Places" link for local date/time conversion

Yes. So that it is bright later into the afternoons during the school summer holidays when the kiddies are out playing, and bright in the mornings during the school year when the kiddies are going to school.

And if you want proof of why changing the clocks is a good system, listen to this.

Last year Turkey moved permanently onto Daylight Savings Time. The government in Northern Cyprus decided to follow suit, which meant that there were now 2 time zones being used on a small island. And this odd situation did not go down well on either side of the Green Line.

And within a matter of weeks of the change being implemented, there was a collision between a bus taking children to school and a lorry in the mountains near Kyrenia. 2 pupils and the bus driver were killed.

Rather than scrapping DST all over the world, it should be introduced all over the world. And the changes should be co-ordinated, to avoid the mess we have at the moment when some countries change one week, and others the following week.

Oh, and while we're at it, scrap the half time zones. Because they make things extremely complicated. (As I am sure karne will agree).

Are you sure it would save more lives than kill by causing lack of sleep to drivers and additional stress to the people with heart conditions?
