Woot!

Grant said in his blog that this SP is for Caroline:luv17: and I love his passion. He is also funny and self-aware, he also wrote: I know my choices are warhorses, please watch them and see what I do before you roll your eyes and make comments.

The fact he had the same PCS as Samarin boggles the mind.

I'm sorry, was Zhenya skating here? It's wonderful that she can score so high and I applaud her.

But is the point that boys shouldn't get beaten by girls? Which is like, something that a five year old would say? That is, a five year old in 1960, because I think five year olds now are too smart to say that.

Certainly not any reason for "shame".

Thank you for implying I am stupid. I don't know if five year olds know the concept of irony, but I guess it depends on where they grow up. Sorry, I don't bite.

I'm actually happy that Sergei is in first place considering how much he has to fight to be considered in Russia, despite the others are far from being great skaters and often worse than him.

I like his programs: once again Misha Ge proved that he has a great future as choreographer.

well, for me he's the one who has a right to eye-roll those who eye-roll his musical choices, with such engaged, passionate performances. I'll repeat myself to death - in my opinion it is really not about music being overused/warhorse - it's all about how skater is using it, it's more of the quality than quantity. Grant's music choices could be frown upon, but for me he truly can give out the feel of 'Moulin Rouge' or Phantom, interpret them and actually emote to the people with honest feel in it. He certainly has a soul for this kind of skating and I'm a rapt fan of his dedication, taking him as he is. And the fact that he and Caroline are skating at Nepela together and he dedicated SP to her - beyond amazing, I do wish for such bond with someone one day, I really do.

Just caught up with men's SP.

Thought Keiji's marks were underscored as I had, but Brandan did have a very nice SP this season, and his improvements in all aspect of his SS is encouraging to see. One of those Japan no.3,4,5 vs Australia no.1 proposition perhaps. (Also Samarin and Brandan had more uplifing popular music while his is more subdued may have also affected the judging, as well skated earlier than everyone.) Brendan seems to have slimmed down a bit this year and in better shape than before to cope with the ever upgrading Quads demands. Good luck to him!

I am iffy on Voronov's SP to be honest, not sure if is the choreography or performance. Think it need better direction. Oh well, let's see how the LP goes.

Kolyada is too injured. He can be fine skipping all fall events and returning at Russian nationals.

A bit bummed out this morning because last week's score at Lombardia would have have Brendan in the lead here. Darn it.

EDIT: Slightly less bummed now that I've seen the video and the protocol. All level 4 spins and steps! And the rest of the program was lovely.

actually Sergei didn't even beat her, remember the PCS factor? If EVgenia's score is calculated in the men's way it would be 89.27. almost 9 points ahead of him. :confused2:

meaning the judges like samarin, I think they will prop him if clean, he will be russian no.1 this season.

LOL. His PCS should not even be in the same ballpark as Dima's. He got a lousy 75 here and now he's the new Russian #1? We haven't even seen Dima or Max yet.

And why in the world is it necessary to keep bringing up Evgenia's scores here? Should we compare pairs and ice dance scores to her too? It's a different discipline with different scoring. The men are ALL inconsistent. Even in the ladies, Evgenia is a one in a thousand skater (unless Eteri's other girls make it past puberty). Just enough already.
