Based on yesterday’s developments, it’s now guaranteed that a world junior men’s SP record will be set here.

That’s what random draw gets you.

Since the junior men can’t do quads in the SP, that greatly increases the likelihood that the top competitors go clean and the difference is decided by components scores. In such a scenario, I’d expect Gogolev to be at a disadvantage compared to older, more developed skaters. So it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s not in first at the conclusion of the short, even with a clean performance. Where he can make a play to win is in the quad roulette of the long program.

Not happy with Egor and Roman getting in first and second, but Torgashev is straight behind. I'm hoping the late start is good for Stephen. But hey, no pressure on the newbie.
I can't believe the whole shebang starts for real tomorrow again! With all the goings on, this felt like the shortest summer break ever! Good luck, guys and enjoy the ride!

I've read the best words ever this morning! It was from gsk8 and described the live threads as something like walking into the sports bar and seeing all your mates and having a banter while you're enjoying the performances. :yes2:

That nails it. Good to be back. Can't wait. As so many times, I'll be following today and tomorrow on live tickers while in the office, dropping by and hope to catch your commentaries to keep me in the loop. Cheers to you all and a new season! :agree:

Can't believe it's starting again already... also can't believe that two of the boys I want to see are starting first and last so I have to watch all of it

I'm also excited for Gogolev. Interesting to see how he copes in his first international junior competition. Has he got nerves? And what about the other Canadian boy, Aleksa Rakic, at the same age? Never heard of him.

Also looking forward to Donovan and Daniel, the Russian boys, the new ones and the ones I don't remember from last season. I’m sure we’ll see lots of improvements.

No French boy :(

Special shout out to Gabriel and good luck in the fight for the second Europeans spot.

Happy new season all!
