I notice that yesterday's ISU communication says that if Spain get the Pair through replacements they will get in instead of South Korea.

Spain has not qualified for the Ladies and Pair Skating individual events. Consequently, they are not considered as a Team. However should a late replacement be made (ESP is 2nd stand-by in Pairs), the Team would qualify and therefore the last team currently qualified, Team 11, Republic of Korea (KOR) would no longer be qualified for the Team Event.

At the 2006 Torino Olympics, Italy got a host spot in women's hockey. Is the host getting an automatic spot decided by each individual sport? Just wondering, as South Korea would lose their team spot if Spain gets a pairs spot.

Korea cannot use their host spots for team event qualification.

Spain is not getting in. They would need not just one, but two pairs spots to be handed back.
