Okay that was fun, now off to watch the RusNats I missed because I spent the Saturday asleep. And folks in two weeks KNats are going to take place and most likely going to be streamed, spread the love for our girls (and lads) as well. I'm going to be at the rink of course but I'll be posting like mad on the thread

Yamashita got hosed. She should have been ahead of Mihara. Her jumps were cleaner than Mai's for sure. And her fall was on her 2nd 3/3 combo. No one else even tried that. JSF just didn't want to have to bump her from WC selection from podium. Probably will send Yoshida since she was 2nd at GPF.

Kaori is Sakamoto. unique. I am very happy for Mone Chiba, she is natural, simple elegance. on the other hand... shouldn't manufacture heroines. this is not a function of either the JSF or the ISU. Mao Shimada is a good skater, but not yet a good figure skater. this weekend... i think top5 would be flattering for her too

I think I've figured out the Women's WC and 4CC spots (unless the fed decides to go back to sending the same team to both events)
But the 3rd JWC spot is still :scratch2:
I'd send Mai to worlds and Rinka to 4CC. Hana to junior worlds with Mao and Rena.
Kaori and Mone to both?

Mako to Bavarian Open as she doesn't meet the criteria for the championships. With Yuna and Rion if JSF is in the Christmas spirit!

Other than Kaori, I'm actually less certain about 2nd and 3rd spot...

Agreed, but Yamashita wasn’t going to be selected to Worlds even had she made the podium. She hasn’t had an international in years and doesn’t even have TES. JFed should send her to a late season challenger.

Also, Mihara shouldn’t be going to Worlds, either. Had she made the podium, sure. But she didn’t and she was only considered in the first place because of her World standing. Watanabe and Yoshida should be considered before her. Chiba can also be considered because of her Silver Medal, but JFed might actually send her to Junior Worlds since the third spot is really up in the air.

I’ll send Sakamoto, Chiba, and Yoshida to Worlds. Mihara, Watanabe, and Yoshida to 4CC. Shimada, Uezono, and Shibayama to Junior Worlds.

I am really happy for Mone Chiba, she was fantastic.

Kaori with another gorgeous skate, her performance of this program has really improved over the season.

I was just thinking how stingy the judges were with their PCs marks since nobody was getting more than 66 (which is less than 8.5 in the components) and then they gave Kaori 77.06.

I hope Hana Yoshida makes the World Championship team. How likely is this right now?

I agree. But my point was that in this competition Mako deserved to be ahead of Mihara, probably in 3rd. JSF should try honesty for a change and explain it just like you did instead of manipulating the scores to make it easier for them. That's what the criteria exist for.

High. In my opinion.

Logically the team should be Kaori-Mone-Hana. But i wouldn't be surprised if Mai take the 3rd spot. Either way, i would be ok since Mone, Hana and Mai are among my favourites.
I would be surprised though if Hana isn't in WC team and not sent to 4CC, but Rinka get 4CC instead. Which is possible since JSF likes to do my faves dirty.

Thank you so much for doing this. I noticed you have linked to Mana instead of Mao for 18. Consequently there are two mp4 files for Mana and nothing for Mao.

Mone Chiba was fantastic in her LP. Nearly flawless, yet despite having a technically more difficult program, is outscored by 13 points by Kaori. This is the kind of ridiculousness that makes skating a farce as a sport. I realize the whole Sakamoto overscoring in GOE and PCS was the JSF way to have her be competitive with Rika's 3As and quads, but Kihira isn't here right now. Can't we stop this charade and have some somewhat fair competition for a change?
