Alternates need to be listed at the same time as the entrants. The US put three alternate couples on their 4CC entry: Zingas/Kolesnik, Brown/Brown and Pate/Bye. They can only use those alternates. Even if all three of the original couples and one of the alternates were unable to compete, leaving the US with just two couples competing, they still would not be able to enter Bratti/Somerville at this point.

Roman only lost his skates once, correct?

This season, airlines have lost Donovan's skates twice. The second time he just YOLO'd and competed in borrowed skates. Not to mention airlines lost his skates last season once as well.

Now this year he may be traveling out of the Toronto airport🤔 To 4CC:eek2:

I will spare you from the many horror stories from flying through Toronto for me.. I do NOT fly through Pearsons anymore... (well whenever I can avoid it).

They were found in a suitcase in Europe (Munich, I believe) with the luggage tag ripped off. Since he travelled through that airport, it was most likely the bag was de-tagged there.

His video about losing his skates

The video on the same channel about his aborted trip was even more mind-boggling.

Interesting, thanks.

I guess Donovan should make two videos. :)I don't know how he ever found his skates, but I presume he did. Not in time for the comps however. :(

I realize there is another possibility for the de-tagging; it could have been done in Toronto as the bags were loaded into the plane. I can picture the tarmac at the Toronto airport littered with baggage tags! Evidence against that: my son has visited us from Toronto about 20 times, and he has never had a baggage tag ripped off.

Roman did have some good advice, like PUT YOUR NAME AND CELL PHONE NUMBER INSIDE YOUR BAG in case the tag is ripped off.

Tara Prasad has withdrawn. She announced it on her instagram story, citing dizziness and blacking out from low blood pressure as the reason. (source from twitter : https://twitter.com/AnythingGOE/status/1751873555191431641 )
This is sad because she hasn't performed a full competition counting for season best this year (she withdrew from the FS at her challenger event). She just earned a silver in Iceland last week, and I was looking forward to watching her classic skating style.

Men.
Maxim NAUMOV 4th at Nats - yes.
Andrew TORGASHEV 5th at Nats - yes.
But why Tomoki HIWATASHI 8th at Nats?
I believe Jimmy Ma (6th an Nats) or Yaroslav Paniot (7th an Nats, has two different quads) deserne this spot more.

Women.
Ava Marie ZIEGLER and Lindsay THORNGREN - yes.
But why Elyce LIN-GRACEY (10th at Nats)?
I believe Starr Andrews (6th at Nats while Thorngren was 7th and LIN-GRACEY was 10th) deserves this spot much more.

Because of the visa issues with China, and the timing the USFS had to name a team, and alternates before US Nationals so those results had no impact on the selections.
