https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1RXjikwXCo Japan documentary on Alina: 'Queen Zagitova, the truth about her career'

Alina about her rink mates TShchK:

" They have different qualities. Sasha is the most courageous and is not always happy if she makes a mistake. Alyona is a truly feminine girl who can cry or get angry if something goes wrong. But Anya Shcherbakova is the one who really loves figure skating wholeheartedly. I don’t know what kind of people they will grow up into and what kind of skaters they will become. But from now on, they will have to confront glory. It’s bad that athletes who achieve good results and win medals often are allowed to make mistakes. "

Don't know if the last part should have read 'often aren't allowed to make mistakes.', Alina's quiet voice is dubbed over.

Excellent to hear her confirm her original statement after so much online insistence that she was definitely retiring. I am looking forward to watching her compete again next year, refreshed from her much-needed break! Thank you for sharing the links.

Alina Zagitova : “Thank you very much for believing in me and supporting me in everything. I’ll try, I will do everything in my power to go to the competition next season and still please you with my rentals. Thank you very much for your support” - Alina’s exclusive interview in the program “Queen Zagitova: The Truth About a Career” on the Japanese TV channel Asahi

On January 30, 2020, a film crew from Japan specially arrived at gymnasium No. 83 to film how an athlete went to school and talk with her teachers and classmates.

Also, the film crew visited the rink in Izhevsk where Alina trained until 2015!

In what direction will Zagitova soon be heading? • ⠀
A month has passed since the announcement of the suspension of a career. And we see Alina ... at the training rink. ⠀
It seems like she is testing her sense of ice. And at that moment she is teaming up with coach Eteri Tutberidze. ⠀
Falling, openly expressing disappointment ... Zagitova hit her on the ice over and over again.
The coach also got excited, giving instructions.
So why if a competitive career is paused .... Why? ⠀

Alina: I did not understand why ... and now I can say that I missed skating. It turned out fast enough, I didn’t even think that it would happen so fast. ⠀

I decided to suspend my competitive career on my own ... There is an option to finish participating in competitions and continue to skate in ice shows ... And that’s why, we don’t could you not try to ask Alina directly, will she continue to compete or will she finally leave the big sport? ⠀

Alina: ... (sigh) .... a difficult question. I haven’t decided yet for myself. But I can definitely say that I want to bring my program to the perfect version. In order not to lose shape and somehow my conscience probably no longer allows me to sit and do nothing. I always want to do something. This is already an athlete’s habit. So, for me ... for it to be, you know, not the same as for me ... I want to learn new elements. Next season I will try to reach a new level and return to the competition. ⠀

In the next season, she wants to return an improved version of herself. Zagitova said she was seriously thinking about returning to the competition. ⠀

Thanks to her will to win and patience, she climbed up. ⠀
What is figure skating for you? ⠀

Alina: Life. I’m all my life, now that I live, I spend more time on the rink. I ride a big half of my life. ⠀

Fans of the whole world are also waiting for her strong and beautiful ... ⠀ ⠀ ⠀

Good news. But there was always a chance she could just say the hell with it I've done enough and just do shows the next few years.

This chance is there and always will be. It depends on the level she will be able to improve on and how she will feel about it. And whatever decide it’s Fine. But it’s nice to hear first hand what is her plan! And I can’t wait. :yahoo:

I just read the sweetest comment on sports.ru. It was a response to a blog about all the reasons to be a fan of Alina. It made me tear up and miss my own mother who was such a fan of figure skating and shared her love of it with me. I wish she was still here to see Alina and Evgenia and the 3A's. She would have loved them all. -

Andrey Zenkov

I love her for the happiness that she gave to me, my family and my mother, who has been watching FC since the distant 70s .... Mom is 83 years old and she learned to use a computer to go to YouTube and watch Alina, and the latest achievement -smart TV .... Who would have thought that love for Alina would encourage an elderly person to master gadgets ... Thank you author, subscribe to your channel

For sure.

Now can Alina add the 3A and or quad for next season? If she does she will have to lose about six pounds right after puberty that will be hard because she has more muscle mass than she used to.

That losing weight theory is only one person's opinion.
A theory that I do not subscribe to at all.

I think her becoming more muscular is a good thing.
She has very powerful looking legs even if she is not stocky.

I want those powerful muscles to be the catalyst for her doing harder jumps.
Losing weight could very well be counterproductive. She could lose some of her strength.

I'd rather see her remain quadless than subject herself to losing weight like that.

I second that Finley.

My mother was a Figure Skating fan before I "discovered" Dorothy Hamill.
She and my sister used to watch it on Wide World of Sports.

Knowing who my mother's preferences were over the years, I'm quite sure she would have loved Alina!

My mom was a die-hard Michelle Kwan fan. And I loved Michelle because my mom did. (And of course because she is Greatest of All Time!) As I got older it never failed that we always liked different skaters and had different favorites. Honestly that made it even more fun to watch skating together. My mom would have loved Evgenia best. I just know that she would have. And we would have been happily disagreeing but mutually appreciating each others favorite skaters and enjoying what each of them had to bring to skating.

After I couldn't watch skating with mom anymore I still watched. I still enjoyed it, but it wasn't the same. I liked certain skaters but couldn't find a way to enjoy being a part of a online fandom. Alina gave all that back to me. The ability to passionately care about skating again.

Yes. But with the passion come the pain. :drama:

I went a few years without a definitive "favorite" and it certainly made it much less stressful watching competitions.

I remember during the Olympics I tried to make sure I focused on NOT looking at the little box with the green/red/yellow lights.
Just in case a non-green one popped up during Alina's programs.
