Dillon finished 26th out of 28 in the FS, with a score of 59.74. This meant that he remained in 26th place overall, with a score of 93.02.

Here is what I wrote in the competition thread at the time:

Awkward landing on the opening Triple Salchow. And hand down on the Double Axel.

He very nearly fell on the second triple Salchow, which meant that he got called for a repeated element as he couldn't put a combination onto the end.

Thankfully, it did not continue like this. The second half was actually pretty good.

Ted said that this was a good skate for Dillon. And I agree. If you pretend the first minute or so didn't happen, it was a good skate

But, Dillon still looked frustrated with how he got on! And he was really scundered when the scores came up.

Margaret looked happier, though.

He had a big lead from the SP over the skaters that were on before him, so it is not surprising that he stayed in front of them. Now to see if he climbs any places.

:cheer: WELL DONE DILLON!!! :cheer:

I know Hallowe'en is coming up at the end of the month, but you would think it had come early looking at the Protocols. They are a pure horror show. Of all the elements Dillon did, only two of them did not have any minuses. The rest of them did not have any plusses!

It honestly did not look like that when watching it live. Yes, the first few elements didn't go well at all, but after that it didn't look so bad to me.

I've already described what happened in three of his four opening elements. And I don't want to dwell on them.

The third element, the Change Foot Sit Spin, went very well. It earned +0.41 in GOE, and positive marks from all the Judges, with four giving him +1; another four giving him +2; and Judge 7 giving him +3.

The fifth element, the Double Axel-Double Toe, was the other element where there were no minuses. He got +0.14 in GOE, and four of the Judges gave him +1, while the rest gave him 0.

The sixth element, the Flying Camel Spin, in itself looked good. The problem was how he got into it. Just after he started spinning, he started going off balance and had to do a wee mini-jump to get back into position for doing the bit where he grabs his blade. And I think it was this that was the reason that he got mostly minuses (Judge 5 gave him 0).

After this, you could see that he was tiring. And whilst he did land everything, they were not perfect landings. They didn't seem significant at the time but, now that the protocols are out, they were. In the Doule Flip-Half Loop-Double Salchow combination, the Half-Loop was downgraded. And the Double Lutz did not have a clear edge.

Ted and Mark had actually come to the rink on the same bus as Dillon and Margaret, and they were chatting, and Mark repeated what they were talking about to us. Dillon had to skip the practice for the Free Skate because, back in Courchevel, his blood sugar level got dangerously low during the Free Skate after doing the practice there. Admittedly, the low oxygen levels due to the altitude in Courchevel would have played a part of this, but they didn't want to take the chance. Which is totally understandable. Although it would have put him on the back foot in preparing for the FS, it was the right thing to do. The health of the skater is the most important thing.

As the mother of a skater, Margaret knows this. And it just proves that she is the right person to have in his corner.

Mark also commented that Dillon's technique will lend itself well to doing Triples. Which bodes well for the future.

Dillon finished the Free Skate 5.86 points behind 25th position, fellow Nottingham skater Freddie LEGGOTT (GBR), and 10.51 points ahead of 27th position, Nikita KOZLOV (KAZ). Overall, he finished 12.23 points behind 25th position, Jakub ROSŁANIEC, and 20.35 points ahead of 27th position, Kozlov.

Although it was not perfect, this was actually Dillon's highest FS and overall score in a Junior GP since his debut back in Skate Slovakia last year.

:cheer: WELL DONE DILLON!!! :cheer:

Dillon finished 6th out of 6 in the SP, with a score of 36.10.

Analysis to be edited in when I get the chance to go through the protocols.

Dillon is currently 1.56 points behind 5th position, René BEKTASHI-BROWN (GBR), and 8.35 points behind 4th position, CHEUNG Chiu Hei (HKG). So, although 4th is out of reach, Dillon has a good chance of climbing up one place.

So, let's hope that things go much better for him today than they did yesterday!

:cheer: WELL DONE!!! :cheer:

The Junior Men's FS is due to start at 11:36:00 BST (10:36:00 GMT). So 5 hours from now.

Dillon will be the 1st skater to start. So, first skater to go in Group 1.

The Group 1 Warm-Up is due to start at 11:36:00 BST (10:36:00 GMT). So 5 hours from now.

Unfortunately, the Time Schedule PDF for the Junior Men's FS isn't working. So I can't tell you any more than that.

Dillon finished 4th out of 6 in the FS, with a score of 69.81. This meant that he climbed to 5th place overall, with a score of 105.91.

Unfortunately, I did not watch the Tayside Trophy LIVE, and the stream that included the Junior Men's FS got zapped due to music copyright claims. Oh, how I wish that the organisers of events would have separate streams for each segment. Although some of the segments may still get zapped, others may survive that would not have otherwise.

Looking at the protocols, there were no major issues. Only the third element, the Triple Salchow, and the eighth element, the Double Flip, got all minuses. But the GOE's were not overly costly (-0.43 for the Salchow and -0.54 for the Flip).

The fifth and sixth elements, the Double Axel and the Flying Camel Spin, got neutral GOE. And it was funny because the Axel got 0's from all the Judges, except for a +1 from the first Judge, Judge 1. And the Camel Spin got 0's from all the Judges, except for a +1 from the final Judge, Judge 5. But, because these elements were on consecutive rows of the table, it just looked like some sort of symmetry.

I have no idea what was going on with the seventh element, the Choreographic Sequence. It had the costliest GOE, at -0.67, but the Judges were all over the place! Judges 1 and 2 gave 0; Judge 5 gave -1; and Judges 3 and 4 gave -3! :drama:

Dillon finished the Free Skate 9.39 points behind 3rd position, Sidney Dennis WILLIAMSON (GBR), and 4.69 points ahead of 5th position, CHEUNG Chiu Hei (HKG). Overall, he finished 3.66 points behind 4th position, Cheung, and 9.68 points ahead of 6th position, René BEKTASHI-BROWN (GBR).

He did a great job coming back in the Free Skate to climb up to 4th in the overall standings!

Hopefully he can carry on that momentum for his Senior debut.

:cheer: WELL DONE DILLON!!! :cheer:

Dillon has actually stayed on in Dundee for the Club part of the Tayside Trophy, where he will be making his debut at Senior level today.

The Senior Men's SP is due to start today at 19:17:10 BST (18:17:10 GMT). So 12 hours from now.

Dillon finished 1st out of 1 in the SP, with a score of 38.83.

Either there were a lot of withdrawals during the afternoon, or else they were really rattling through the competitions. Because Dillon ended up skating 1h 10m before he was due to! Consequently, I missed watching him LIVE. However, I did wind back and watch him delayed to the time he was supposed to be skating.

It wasn't the best of starts, as Dillon fell on the opening element

Dillon finished 11th out of 11 in the SP, with a score of 38.49.

Although I was not able to watch LIVE, when I did catch-up I wrote the sort of post that I would have put in the competition thread if I had been watching LIVE. Here it is:

Fall on Triple Loop early on. And lost his footing during the Step Sequence. Fell on Double Axel.

But, everything else looked very good.

He looks totally depressed sitting waiting for his scores. Margaret is joking away, trying to cheer him up, but it's not working.

Dillon goes into 9 out of the 8 that have skated so far.

As I said, the things that went well looked very good. So, hopefully the balance will tip in that direction during the Free.

Analysis to be edited in when I get the chance to re-watch the programme with the protocols.

Dillon is currently 8.31 points behind 10th position, Artur SMAGULOV (KAZ), and 9.33 points behind 9th position, Matias HEINONEN (FIN).

Being realistic, Dillon is unlikely to climb up any positions. It would take mistakes from the skaters ahead of him for that to happen. But, if he puts in a good FS, he can close the gap.

Dillon finished 10th out of 10 in the SP, with a score of 34.20.

Unfortunately, I was not able to watch LIVE, so this report is based purely on the protocols.

It was a disasterous start. He fell on his first two elements. The first element was supposed to be a Triple Salchow with a combination, but because he fell on the first part, it meant that he didn't get putting anything onto the end of it. Unsurprisingly, he got -5 from all the Judges, and -2.15 in GOE.

The second element was a Triple Loop. Although he ended up falling, he did actually manage to land it on the quarter. Again, he got -5 from all the Judges, and -2.45 in GOE.

The third element, the Change Foot Sit Spin, also got minuses all round. However, they were not as bad as the previous two elements. He got -2 from Judge 1; and -3 from the other four Judges. GOE was -0.64.

Things got a bit better after this, though. There were no more Judges marks that were below -2, and no more GOE's lower than -0.60.

At this point, I should point out that Dillon did not get any positive GOE during his Short Programme. However, it was not all negative, as he got neutral GOE for his penultimate element, the Flying Camel Spin. This was his best element of the programme, as he even got a +1 from Judge 3 for it! As for the remaining Judges, Judge 5 gave it -1, and the other three Judges gave it 0.

Dillon is currently 10.46 points behind 9th position, Robert WILDT (DEU), and 12.79 points behind 8th position, Jari KRESTYANNIKOV (FIN).

Unfortunately, with being this far behind the skaters in front of him, Dillon is unlikely to move up any places in the Free Skate. But, in a way, this releases him so that he can concentrate on doing the best he can, and trying to get the best score that he can.

And I really hope he can.

:cheer: WELL DONE!!! :cheer:

The Junior Men's FS is due to start today at 14:45:00 CET (13:45:00 GMT). So 7 hours from now.

Dillon finished 15th out of 16 in the SP, with a score of 43.30.

Here is what I wrote in the competition thread at the time:

Ah, that was Dillon that was on when the race finished. I didn't recognise him. He looks a LOT taller than the last time I saw him. Plus, he's changed his costume (although it's the same music).

Well, I may as well wind back and watch him now.

First part of opening combination was lovely. Second part had a dodgy landing.

Second jump didn't have a great landing either.

Spins were nice.

Next jump had a landing that could be called either way.

He looked frustrated when he finished. But, to be honest, that is the best I have seen him skate in a few years.

Aha! He was a lot happier when he and his coach came in to get his scores.

Into 13th position with a score of 43.30.

That's a new absolute PB for the Short Programme by a good margin!

:cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

:cheer: WELL DONE DILLON!!! :cheer:

CaroLiza_fan

Dillon is currently the middle skater in a group of 3 skaters covered by 1.95 points. He is 1.33 points behind 14th position, Petr KOTLAŘÍK (CZE), and 0.62 points ahead of 16th position, Connor BRAY (GBR).

Given that there is a 6.59 point gap ahead of this group, barring a disaster from somebody ahead of them, it is likely to remain a battle between the three of them for the bottom 3 positions. All three skaters have a good chance to finish in any of the three positions. So, Dillon needs to put in a good skate to make sure that he either maintains his position, or moves up one position.

And given how well he skated in the Short, I am optimistic that he can do it.

:cheer: WELL DONE DILLON!!! :cheer:

The Senior Men's FS is due to start at 17:34:00 BST (16:34:00 GMT). So 10 hours from now.

Dillon will be the 2nd skater to start. So, second skater to go in Group 1.

The Group 1 Warm-Up is due to start at 17:34:00 BST (16:34:00 GMT). So 10 hours from now.

Dillon is due to start at 17:46:30 BST (16:46:30 GMT). So 10h 12m from now.

But, those times may change if somebody that is due on before him withdraws.

Dillon finished 16th out of 16 in the FS, with a score of 84.30. This meant that he dropped to 16th position overall, with a score of 127.60.

Unfortunately, I was not able to watch LIVE due to watching the final round of the British Superbike Championship. But, unlike the morning stream, the afternoon stream is still available. So here is a comment along the lines of what I would have written if I had been watching LIVE:

Well, I suppose a black-fading-to-blue costume is better than those blue-fading-to-white costumes that we see so often.

When it started, I thought the music was nice. But then dialogue came in!!! :bang: :bang: :bang:

He just about landed the opening jump. But the combination he did next was lovely. And so was the next jump and the spins that followed it.

The next jump's landing was very similar to the first's. But the spins that followed were lovely.

Didn't have a great landing on the first part of the combination. But everything after that was good.

He seemed to be tiring towards the end. But, it didn't do much harm to the enjoyment.

I admit that I was being a bit cautious when writing about the SP. But, after seeing both programmes, I'm going to throw caution to the wind and say what I am actually thinking: This weekend has been the best I have ever seen him skate!

Oh, it looks like he's cut himself. He's got the right leg of his jumpsuit rolled up and a really cute blonde girl has come in and handed him a plaster. The coach then signals her to sit down on the other side of Dillon, and he opens up the wrapping and sticks the plaster just above his right knee.

Into 2nd in both the FS and overall. Which means he drops a position.

Both scores are absolute PB's!!! :cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

Dillon finished the Free Skate 1.73 points behind 15th position, Brandon BAILEY (GBR). Bailey was at the bottom of a group of 3 skaters covered by 0.59 points stretching up to Anton SKOFICZ (AUT) in 13th position, 2.32 points ahead of Dillon.

Overall, Dillon was 7.70 points behind 15th position, Bailey. Bailey was at the bottom of a group of 4 skaters covered by 0.90 points stretching up to Henry PRIVETT-MENDOZA (GBR) in 12th position, 8.60 points ahead of Dillon.

Although he could not have finished higher overall, Dillon can take heart that he was not that far away from finishing 13th position in the Free Skate.

Finishing last would not have been what Dillon would have wanted, especially when he skated so well. As I said, this is the best I have ever seen him skate. I don't know if it was the change of coach, or the move up to Seniors, but something is really working for him now. The fact that all his scores were considerably higher than he had ever scored before says it all.

He still has a way to go if he is to achieve the minimum TES's that he needs to get to Europeans. But, if he continues to progress at the rate he has since last season, I am starting to feel that he might just have a chance of doing it.

All of a sudden, I am feeling very optimistic that this is going to be a good season for Dillon.

:cheer: WELL DONE DILLON!!! :cheer:

Ah, it turns out that Dillon withdrew from the Tirnavia Ice Cup.

I don't know the reason for his withdrawal. But, I hope that everything is OK.
