I got a pair of CRS Cross padded gloves for practicing - I've never actually fallen onto my hands, but they were a confidence booster. Unfortunately, the largest size is too small, and I’ve ripped them trying to put them on. Is there a brand out there with larger sizes? What do men wear? Or do people with big hands just stick with mittens?

Falling technique aside, the thin Northface eTip gloves/mittens. Occasionally, I'll slip gel padding into the palm area.

I'm a male skater. I don't see the point in padded gloves. If you fall with your hands against the ice, abrasion is not an issue. Also, impact against your hands per se is not an issue; you need to be concerned about injury to your wrists, and padded gloves are insufficient for that.

I wear thin insulated leather dress gloves for warmth (leather gloves provide a better barrier than knit gloves or mittens against cold streaming air). For wrist protection, I wear wrist guards over the gloves.
