Thanks @KiraraChin for the news, really was happy to see this news when I woke up this morning. Finally some breaking of his usual scores and hopefully he can do that in international competition next and can improve his PB and ranking ^^

I also saw the news that Shoma won't be participating in 4CC so Kazuki should replace him. Happy to see him getting this chance and I wish him the best of luck there to turn over that experience last year

I've just read the official announcement that Kazuki is indeed replacing Uno Shoma at 4CC, so now I get to see both Yuzuru and Kazuki live :hap57: I hope he does his SP as he did in the Intercollegiate competition (or better ;)), let him end his final (major) competition of the season on a high  Meanwhile now I have to find a nice otter plushie for him

Your dream came true :yay: Are you going to see the entire competition?

Yup, bought the all-event ticket (including official practice and gala) and will try to be at the rink as much as possible, who cares if I freeze to death after the competition is over

Woahhh I can’t believe I’m getting to see both Kazuki and Yuzuru live at the same competition like this! I bought the tickets before JNats expecting there to be at least one of them... now I’m scared from being so lucky haha
(would’ve wanted to see Shoma too but alas)

You guys are so, so lucky! Please if you can, share your impressions with us - I love reading reports of people who watched the competitions live!

:yahoo:
I'm so glad that I can be openly pleased with the news, as Shoma's withdrawal is absolutely from a positive reason!
Tomono-kun, show them that you're the real 'Strongest Substitute' (as in, 最強の補欠)!!!

Sorry for my another long absence, but I'm trying to catch up now.

For now, let me drop this one here

So happy to hear the news that Kazuki will be at 4CC. When he was listed as the first alternate, I immediately said to myself "Keep practicing Kazuki. You never know what will develop!" Very happy for him. I really like his programs this season and will be interested to see how far they've come since I saw him at Sk Amer in October.

Kazuki won Intercollegiate!!!!! :hap57:

He scored 157.74 in the free skate, a total of 244.80! This is about 36 points higher than Mitsuki Sumoto's score, who won 2nd place.
His layout: 4T2T, 4S, 3A2T, 3lo 3lz, 1A, 3Feu2S. So he popped one of his axels and doubled some combos, but overall he landed all his four quads in this competition!

I'm so happy because I know Kazuki cares a lot about his university life. He was devastated when he didn't win last year!

It seems he said during the Nagoya Festival he was contacted by Shoma himself about a 'possible' WD, but he didn't know for sure until the official announcement!

In anycase, Kazuki looks more than ready for 4CC... Bring it on!

I’m excited for Kazuki! Hope he can keep the confidence from winning and do well at 4CC.

Yup, bought the all-event ticket (including official practice and gala) and will try to be at the rink as much as possible, who cares if I freeze to death after the competition is over

When you mention freezing, the thought of the 30C+ difference between my city and Seoul makes me shudder.

You guys are so, so lucky! Please if you can, share your impressions with us - I love reading reports of people who watched the competitions live!

Did Kazuki attend the first official practice last year at 4CC? I was planning to skip the first one but might go if he’s there.

I am happy for Kazuki, he deserves a chance to show his programs for the season once again. Just imagine if he skates them to their potential ^ ^
Good for you guys who can go and see both Yuzuru and Kazuki compete! It must be a terrific experience, please keep us updated! :drama:

Hi everyone, someone uploaded his protocols from Intercollegiates...
https://twitter.com/Tomono_Infonet/status/1215453803807305728
Can I just say this is me looking at his PCS: https://giphy.com/gifs/D7uRS5xi6h6LK/html5
How the hell he upgrades his content so much, goes fairly clean, and yet gets the same ridiculously low PCS!? Must be a unique case in figure skating :gaah:
Also, that edge call on his flip? LOL wut? It seems to me they were doing everything possible to lowball him :dev2:

But... moving on to better things... Today's Sota Yamamoto's birthday. Sota is one of Kazuki's best friends, so to celebrate I'll post this fan art that Kazuki himself liked on Twitter: https://twitter.com/nusunnosukeaka/status/1209630032823373824 :luv17:

I see. Thank you!
I already made some plans prior to the announcement of Kazuki’s participation but will try my best to move it around so I can support him from day one!

Edited: this was in reply to you, KiraraChin. Not sure why the quote didn’t appear haha.
As far as I remember, he didn't miss any practices.

Hi everyone!
Check out Kazuki's FS from Intercollegiate! Thank you tsuyoboogie for recording and uploading it! :thank:

I'm really impressed by the fact he was able to deliver a semi-clean skate even though he most likely lost some form since Nats.

Also, according to this article, he's competing at the National Winter Sports Festival later this month!
https://4years.asahi.com/article/13025273

So, basically his schedule:
18-19 Jan - PIW shows in Hiroshima
29-31 Jan - National Winter Sports Festival in Hachinohe
4-9 Feb - 4CC in Seoul

So busy! :drama: At least he doesn't have to travel far for 4CC, and it's the same timezone...

Nice interview from Misha! Tsurara might want to translate, but it kinda works with Google Translate.
Part 1: https://note.com/hitomihasegawa/n/n06fd5ddb8e98
Part 2: https://note.com/hitomihasegawa/n/n10e920e5725b

I really liked this quote from Misha about Kazuki's FS at Nationals: 'On that day, I was able to show him his inner strength the most while practicing with him. It was a happy moment as a coach. It has nothing to do with rankings, points or small mistakes. I felt the fire, power and confidence inside him and I was very happy.'

Also, can we appreciate the fact Kazuki seems to able to have many deep conversations with Misha - his English must be very good!

Speaking of Misha and Kazuki, it seems Kazuki went to watch Misha's show - Ice Explosion on Sunday. Kazuki's friend Sion posted an IG story with Kazuki at a restaurant: https://www.instagram.com/p/B7Pd9QUpu0h/ He seemed happy! :luv17:

Hi everyone, it seems that Kazuki is indeed participating in the National Winter Sports Festival the weekend before Four Continents!
https://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20200116-00000150-spnannex-spo
Kaori is doing the same. Those two are crazy :drama:

BTW, I came across Kazuki's free skate from when he did this competition two years ago:
https://twitter.com/main120312031/status/1216233892367044608
https://twitter.com/main120312031/status/1216234473164902400

It was a good skate, actually! All clean, apart from a step out on the first quad salchow.
But OMG he was a baby! He matured so much over the past couple of years, both in appearance and skating-wise.
Also, I noticed some small but significant improvements in his jumps. His leg wrap used to be more pronounced, and his toe jumps were more pre-rotated.
The fact that he improved since then is quite amazing, especially considering he doesn't have a jump tech specialist on his team!

The clips made me go back and watch his performances at Worlds 2018. How he teared up after the SP and and the satisfaction after the FS always get me. He was a hero there. I remember being very worried about Japan’s Worlds spots and that I could breath again after he skated.

His schedule is indeed crazy. I hope he won’t be too exhausted. But then again, didn’t he have a competition a week before Worlds in 2018 as well? So I’m going to be optimistic about this :agree:
