I'm not a fan of programs full of quads since I need to feel something when I watch a performance and, for this reason and many others, I don't agree with the new direction this sport has taken but, in my opinion, a third type of quad is what he needs if he wants to stay competitive in the long run...

It's clear that he's not a Fed's dear anymore and with the pressure of Shun and Yuma he can't rely anymore on the PCS he deserves and that they're not giving him (see Yuma and Kazuki PCS difference at Nationals ); so training the quad loop can only be good for him.

Yes, he definitely needs all the weapons he can get! As long as he doesn't overdo it and takes care of his health, I'm all for it.

It's funny because in the interview (as far as I can understand - please Tsurara correct me if I'm wrong), he even says he's "no good with triples" and he would like to "let go of all his triples" (but he knows it's not realistic).

He's actually right - he gets more GOE for his quads/3A than his regular triples, and his triples are just as unreliable as his quads

Obviously, he knows that doing only quads and 3A is not possible, but it's funny that pretty much everyone else is like "I want to do quads to upgrade my BV", while Kazuki's like "I want to do quads because I'm not good with triples"...

It seems it's written by the same guy who wrote his four-part Asahi Shimbun series in the summer!

I *seem* to recall reading he has an older brother? But I'm not 100% sure. What I'm pretty certain is that his mum has been playing a vital role in his career - she is the reason why he started skating in the first place, and she has been helping him a lot, especially with costumes. So I'm sure this was a very special moment for both of them :luv17:

I can understand your feelings of jealousy, because Ms Tomono is definitely very lucky. Kazuki is posting a lot of nice stories on his Insta account and it seems he's spending his New Year's Eve with Sota, Mitsuki Sumoto and another guy that I'm not able to identify (sorry)
It's so nice how they manage to be good friends despite the rivalry :luv17: this says a lot about how good people these guys are
I think I could never be good friend with a direct competitor, but girls can be meaner and more jealous in general

PS. I would also like to wish everyone in this thread a Happy New Year , it's nice to share opinions, emotions and cheer for Kazuki with you , I wonder why it took me so long to decide to join this forum

He was with fellow Osakans Sota, Mitsuki, and Taichiro Yamakuma! They looked like they were having sooooooo much fun
I especially love that while everyone was wearing an apron at the restaurant, Kazuki was wearing a bib Also that pic with the drink next to his head, I wonder if the drink was massive, or it's just Kazuki is really small

They really look like good friends. I seem to remember in that interview with Kazuki, Taichi Honda and Shu Nakamura, they said all Team Japan boys are very close, particularly the ones in the Kansai area. I personally believe it might be the case for the girls, too. I couldn't find it now, but I saw a lovely video of Kaori and Mai literally jumping and screaming with joy after seeing one of their girlfriends had done well at Nationals

By the way, as a mediocre speaker of Japanese/a native speaker of a language (Korean) which has an equivalent of よろしくお願いします, it's so frustrating to try to translate it into English. It's not necessarily 'to work with', more of a general 'going along' thing with the speaker in a 'humble' position. It's a common everyday phrase yet it has zero English equivalents, gaaaaaaahrhtjdhwgdj

I can imagine translating what Kazuki says/writes is difficult! It seems to me he uses a lot of very Japanese/Osakan words and phrases.

Some skaters post in their native language with an English version, but Kazuki never does this... He doesn't make it easy for his international fans!

Guys... Guys... Kazuki skated his SP today at Intercollegiate and... HE WENT CLEAN (ish)! :hap93:

His layout was 4T3Tso, 4S, 3A. According to reports, all his jumps and steps were beautiful :luv17:

He scored 87.06 - still low IMO, why are they so harsh on him - but... It's his best SP score ever! Congrats, Kazuki! I'm so happy!

He's obviously leading, Mitsuki is in second with 66.54. So he has more than a 20pts gap going into the free
