I wish I could say that I was away on a fun trip to SF, or doing something great with grandkids (don't have any yet), but I've been at the end of a paint brush helping with a renovation. No internet. Which didn't matter because I didn't have any energy at the end of the day to watch LP or anything else for that matter. Back now. There are some great episodes coming up. People are being "rascals", "impertinents", and "ignoble", and that's causing others to be "flurried", haha. And through it all Pelin is feeling "bomba". I love these translations. I might make it my mission to use some of these words in conversations, just to see the reactions.

Anyway, I'm enoying catching up with reading here, and will reply.

Help me out you'all. What episode are we now on and who is up to summarize it. I have lost complete track as to where we are.

Welcome back. Painting can be exhausting yet rewarding in the final result. Good to have you back.

Megi Abla, Coki baci summarized E31 (post #2368). You had your comments on E31, and Scout had a response/comments also. Then NazAli came back with her comments on E29 and E30. You said that you still wanted to comment on NazAli points on E29, E30. I don't know about LoveShura, because we haven't heard from her for quite sometime. But I think only NazAli and I haven't done E31. I am working on it. So, we are still weighing in on E31. I am appointed next with E32. :)

I was looking for a link on calling women abla, baci etc. I can't find it (I apparently didn't save it), someone listed it on this forum within the last 5 months and its was extensive. In looking for it I came across this link on turkish - the most romantic language. Enjoy: https://www.babbel.com/en/magazine/is-turkish-the-most-romantic-language/

and then there's this one too: http://marmaris.org/turkish-love-phrases/

I'm just browsing the internet for all things Turkish and look at this one, read #29 - I laughed when I read it - reminded me of Savas on the boat showering immediately after making love to Yasemin, leaving her alone in the bed :noshake: http://turkishtravelblog.com/how-to-act-like-turk-turkish/

BTW - loan word - taxi

How to tell if you’ve been "Turkified" –

3. I agree – why do we not have bidet’s in the west.
5. If I'm alone for dinner I often eat a bowl of cereal, so why not soup for breakfast. But no to the garlic or chilli sauce, at least not until lunch.
10. I love slippers. I have 4 pairs right now, wear them all.
12. After all the painting I just did, if we had a real estate market like Istanbul, I’d consider doing a flip.
16. Really? So maybe that’s why Yasemin slips into doubt at times about Savas’ pledges to be true to her - it's not just because of her bad experiences?
17. NE Ep 1 – remember at the bar Savas told Yasemin she was kind of rude. When she did the “tut” and eye roll on the boat, I wondered why he didn’t react – isn’t she being rude again? This explains it.
20. I would love this.
22. Uh, no.
23. Since I’m Canadian, I’d have to say “sorry” every time I jumped ahead (it's not just because of our mothers, it's something in the water here ), and that would just defeat the whole purpose of queue jumping.
25. This made me think of Savas and the number of times he wore the same clothes for several days. Yasemin too – the drug raid episodes. The LP fantasy - people don’t get BO, or bad breath after a night of drinking, haha!
33. We live by this maxim too. Here people just pull their BBQ’s into their garage during our 9 months of winter (kidding!), and then open the garage door when they cook. A January BBQ helps us keep the faith that warm weather will eventually return.
36. Turkish coffee is like mud? I’d stick with tea.

Hilarious link Meganda!

Megi Abla aferim sana for these links. I think I am "turkified" a bit :laugh2:
My ""turkification" consists of:

2. I usually don't take selfies because I think I never look good in a selfie, and I believe selfies are only for those who invented them: 20-30 years of age, no more. When a seldomly do one and send it to my friends I capture it: "Zeynep Hanim going .... or doing etc". I call myself Zeynep Hanim
3. I like all soups any time of the day.
7. By the way I answered my phone with "efendim". The reaction was hilarious. In the stores or restaurants when I see peoples' name tags saying a muslim name I try to bubble my Turkish. But I am not lucky all the time , sometimes they are from other countries. One day a lady from Iran told me "mehraba" means good in Farsi.
10. I love slippers.

Unlisted in the article:
-Inspired from these movies, now I am a fan of big pieces of jewelry, not before.
- I used to somehow like vibrant colors now I love these colors, and I like their unusual color combination.
- I like their interior design. It's principles, totally different from what we are used to see, but I like it.
- I like their music a lot, there is too much spirit and soul in it.

Teşekkür ederim Megi Abla!

Megi baci, maybe you were looking for this link. I remember we talking about this and the issue of why addressing Cicek Hanim instead of Cicek Yenge'

yes, olumlu cevap, evet. teşekkür ederim Dafna şekere! :yahoo:

Bir şey değil Meganda Bacigim, it is post #2282. This discussion started with your post #2276 and went on till #2291.
At this link I learned something interesting: that you can't call anybody "Abla", or "Abi": you can call those only to people older than you. And also,Turkish ladies might be offended if you call them Teyze if they are 5, 10 or so years older than you, that old that they can be called Abla. Cicek called Nazan "Nazan Abla" and I think she was maybe 12, 13 years her senior.

One thing I can't find out: how they call the male version of Yenge, the husband of your aunt (Teyze and Halla). They say something that sounds like "iniste" (eneeshte), but I can't find how it is spelled, because it is not in this link.
I also learned that they call their mothers-in law in the formal way with their name and Hanim at the end like Yasemine used to call Sahnur, Sahnur Hanim. Later on, when they know each other they refer to them in a less formal way: their name and Anne at the end, like Hakan said in E31: Safiye Anne. And later on I think in a loving way they call them simply Anne. I remember in a later episode, Sahnur asking Yasemine to call her simply Anne. And SAvas was surprised and happy when he heard it. And at the last episode when his newly found brother came and sat at the dinning table, Savas introduced Leyla as Yasemine's mother and said something "of course my mother too". I found it a very lovely moment after all the battles.

you have gone much further than I have with this. I'll have to go back and actually study it. It had just dawned on me when one of us called each other abla that maybe we should have a show of hands for those of us who have gray hair and/or are grandmothers so as to know if we should call each other abla. It was at that point that I wanted to find that link that you just regave to me. :) sagol. :) Dafna şekere ;)

8:) lol look this one up J4F https://hot963.com/63511/texting-what-the-heck-do-all-of-those-symbols-mean/

Megi sekere, from your last sentence I knew of course lol, I didn't know 8:) and I figured out J4F before opening the link. Looking at the link I am very behind on this texting language. I'll show it to my son when he is back from college. I am curious to know if he uses them or not. What is going on? I guess that's how teenagers text?!?! Where did the language go? I liked laughing and crying :'-) The link is hilarious.

Telling the truth I have thought about the fact of how we address each other. I think I am "safe" by calling you Abla, because you have said you retired and you have grandkids. I am not there yet, and my kids are much younger than yours. Grey hair, .... I think we all have grey hair. If we decide to be strict to the above Turkish rule, maybe we can do that, if we decide. But I think we are safe and less complicated in a more liberal, no fuss at all American way: call each other how we feel and comes in mind at that moment.

A friend of mine is visiting Istanbul these days, and sent me many pictures and videos. For all you Turkey and everything Turkish lovers if you like I can share those with you, if you want. And if I figure out how to put those here.

By all means share them with us. Just scan them in as jpeg and upload them into your https://imgbb.com/ and then post the link here for us to see. We would certainly enjoy.
