Quick report from the rink. 3 nice 3 axels this morning in practice. Yay!! Little bit of trouble with the 4 sal combo, but got it before practice finished.i took tons of pictures, will share eventually, LOL.. He has grown into such a tall beautiful young man since I last saw him. Mama Bear is so proud. :)

I can 100% confirm that Roman is even more regal and stunning when seen from up close. He's like a fairy tale, figure skating prince come to life!

I just wish he had a SP that he could be happy with, but I still consider it a privilege to have watched him compete in person. :) I'm looking forward to his LP later today. Good luck, Roman! :hap10:

I made a joke on the Canadian FS thread that I thought I'd share here. :p

I got to meet Keegan (on Thursday) and Nam (on Friday morning) at SCI! I believe I must have served as some sort of good luck charm for them because they both later received standing ovations for both of their programs. ;) In contrast, I didn't cross paths with Roman, and look what happened to him during the competition! :drama: :bang:

I've finally uploaded my fancam of his SCI SP Friday practice, although the view from my seat is nowhere near as good as the Thursday one:

I couldn't make it to the Saturday practice session, so I never got to see his LP in practice form live.

I've cut these from Skate Canada's archived livestreams:

LP Thursday morning practice (720p): https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x706g1j

SP Thursday afternoon practice (720p): https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x706raq

During the SCI Men's Free Skate broadcast, TSN/CTV aired a fluff piece about Roman's YouTube channel, plus there was a short discussion on Roman's and Nam's friendship, but I haven't been able to find the videos online anywhere.

However, I can at least share with you guys a lovely promo of Roman which was shown before a commercial break, and he's so pretty in it! 😘

I'm suddenly reminded of my father teasing me about my fangirl tendencies, and he figured out right away why I adored Roman so much: "Oh, I know why you have a celebrity crush on him; he skates pretty and he IS pretty." Yep, my dad knows me well.

As a follow-up to my previous post, I've added my fancam of Roman's LP warm-up: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x71ch8j

I could only find the following videos in 540p, so they're not in HD, but it's better than nothing.

SCI Post-SP Interview: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x70uf9t

SCI Post-LP Interview: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x70ufog

I like how complimentary he is about the audience at the Place Bell arena. :) (Well, he should be; I screeched at the top of my lungs for him during the competition! :p ) Although the interviews were filmed by TSN, they were NOT broadcast on Canadian television, so they're essentially "bonus material."

Here's the Romsky fluff in 720p and it includes the commentators' discussion of his friendship with Nam---there's a very cute clip of them from 2014 :) :

He only appears briefly in these two videos:

My Inspiration Fluff (540p)---no brownie points for guessing which skater Roman mentions :p :

This one is also bonus material, i.e. it wasn't aired on Canadian television.

SCI Video Essay (720p)---he's shown merely twice:

If Roman spends countless hours editing his vlogs, then I've spent countless hours searching and uploading videos of him. I hope those of you who hang out on his Fan Fest appreciate all the effort I've put into trying to keep it active. The low view count on my recent vids makes me suspect that I may be doing a poor job, but if that's the case, then I'd like to invite the lurkers to contribute more.

It was a tragic coincidence that the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting took place on the same day as the SCI Men's Free Skate, so it made Roman's Schindler's List LP that much more poignant and meaningful for me as a spectator. Despite the mistakes, I still regard it as the most hauntingly beautiful figure skating program that I've seen in person.

Roman is in Austria! https://www.instagram.com/p/BqI5hTFHrmq/ Any idea who the older gentleman is in the photo?

:ghug: Thank you for all you hard work @siberia82. I'm caring for a very sick family member right now and can't stop by often, but please know that your efforts are always very much appreciated!!! Hopefully one day soon I'll be able to share all my pictures from SCI.

vintagefigureskater, I was wondering what happened to you; I was getting worried that even you were becoming bored with my posts. I'm sorry to hear that your relative is ill, and I hope that s/he will recover soon. I can't wait to see your snapshots, but only when you're ready to upload them, of course.

After the Inge Solar Memorial SP, he's in 2nd with 77.91.

In the competition thread, someone claimed that Roman was overscored because he was credited with a 4S+3T instead of a 4S+2T. However, the commentator made a mistake when he called the 2nd jump in his combo a 2T. I've cut this from the archived livestream (the original footage is only 360p, but it's clearer than my screen recording) and I artificially increased the size of the video to 720p to prove that Roman had actually performed a 3T, as listed in the protocols:

Well our friend a Roman better dumb down his program. It is obviously too challenging for him. Today’s FS was a disaster. On the other hand, Nam bombed last year but seems on the right track this year...so there is hope.

Congratulations to Roman for winning the silver medal and achieving a senior-level podium finish at an international competition for the second time in his career! (y)

That being said, his free skate score was only 127.04 points :palmf: , while at SCI he got 142.88. I honestly couldn't believe he managed to hang on to a silver medal with such a poor performance. He got LUCKY. But Roman had better fix whatever issues he's currently having, otherwise he won't even finish in the Top 10 at the 2019 Canadian Championships. (Seriously, the men's event is going to be a blood bath, and anyone who doesn't bring their A-game won't make the National Team.)

Maybe his FS was a mess... but the final spin was just :luv17:. What a speed and precision. Checked protocols: +5 GOE from all but one judges. Wish him all elements of the same quality.

It's nice of you to find something positive. :) The British Eurosport commentators during SCI also praised Roman's spins as being the best in the men's discipline that they've seen on the GP circuit.

Since I spend a lot of time on this thread, I thought I should let you all know that I nearly died on Friday night (and no, I'm not exaggerating in the slightest). The medical staff at the hospital saved my life by giving me three blood transfusions plus an IV drug that slowed down bleeding. A doctor has prescribed me medication that should stabilize my condition and (hopefully) prevent another life-threatening episode. I'm very weak (naturally), but I'm so grateful that I'm still alive, and that I can continue to do "mundane" things like discuss Roman's skating career you guys. :ghug: Honestly, I'm overwhelmed with joy that my life almost seems normal today, when just a few nights ago, it was a struggle for me to stay conscious with such massive blood loss, and not knowing if I'll survive to see the next morning. I'm resting and recovering now.

Some of you may find this darkly amusing; while I hovered between life and death, after I had pondered about my family, friends, the meaning of life and all that profound stuff, my mind wandered to more trivial issues, and one of them was, "But who will take care of Roman's Fan Fest when I'm gone?!" I may have been a bit delirious at this point. :p
