Nobu had some kind words for Shoma in his commentary, translated by kokomadekokomo on Twitter:
https://www.daily.co.jp/general/2019/11/03/0012844873.shtml
https://twitter.com/kokomadekokomo/status/1190853665780727808
“Through every dark night, there's a bright day. There will definitely be a day he will feel there was a meaning to what happened here today.”

He didn't mention Shoma by name but Nobu... took the time to also tweet out this after the IdF free skate (I used Google Translate):
https://twitter.com/nobutaro1001/status/1190651419457548288
絶対大丈夫。応援してくれる人が世界中にたくさんいるねんもん。それって今まで本気でスケートと向き合ってきたからやし、今日の日が無駄じゃなかったって思える日が絶対来るから、笑顔でいてほしいです。。

Absolutely okay. There are many people around the world who support us. Because I've been seriously facing skating so far, I'm sure there will be a day that seems to have been a waste of today, so I want you to smile..

/wipes tears/

For all the DBC members attending the gala, have fun and enjoy :luv17: thank you for making sure Shoma feels all our love and support, please enjoy the last day of IdF too..

I love Shoma. I hope he is realizing now that he needs a coach. (Coachless didn't work for Michelle Kwan in 2002, either.)

Raf is a secret Shoma stan? :luv17: (I'm sure the post is just joking)I heard he spoke to him in the K & C. Wonder what he said?! Just looks to me like he's handing him a plushie.

I don’t think he really said much. Just tried to show a little bit of support by clapping and handing out the gifts (because there were so many). That was a nice thing to do.

I really feel for Shoma after yesterday. He's a great champion though and I hope he can find a way back, the sport wouldn't be the same without him.

I can't wait to see his EX today. [emoji4]

Uno going into that gala tonight deserves the ice covered with flowers like in the good old times... though we know it’s not a safe practice. But still. I’m also kind of wondering with Brown finding an alternative way to success if Uno can do the same?

Skating order for tomorrow's gala:
https://twitter.com/BluecosmosH/status/1190758867136741377?s=19

27 numbers. Whew. Shoma comes just before chock and Bates and the gold medalists. Interesting position.

It's what he deserves. ^_^

He said he is going to Lambiel so hopefully he stays for the season.

That's good, I hope they can rebuild his confidence. It must be so difficult to train and compete with hardly any guidance.

Just caught up and watched today's competitions. I have so many thoughts. I honestly expected him to come back with a vengeance and do awesome in the free. I didn't check the results before I watched, so I was so shocked to see him fall so often, and in such scary ways! But on the other hand, I appreciated his performance more than the last time I saw it (Lombardia? Or was it Finland?). While I loved his SP right away, I wasn't excited about his free program back then, but today I connected with it more and I'm looking forward to seeing it again. Also I am amazed at how invested he was in his elements in-between jumps, especially the elements right after his hard falls. Like he wasn't phased at all. I really appreciate that about him. I was terribly heartbroken to see him cry in the kiss and cry area, but also incredibly grateful to hear the wonderful, unconditional support from the whole crowd ❤️

Same here regarding his programs, Great Spirit immediately got a "hooray" from me when it was announced, Dancing On My Own was more like "yeah, that will probably be nice" but it quickly grew on me. Hope we'll get to see both programs in their full glory sooner or later.

Oh hooray! Can't wait to see my favorite move from that program!!!!!

I love his arm movements during the "butterflies" line, so obvious but so sweet. :luv17: I also love Niall Horan so I welcome this choice. :D Also, dear 3A, where have you been hiding during the competition??

Yes, that's the face I'd rather see. Thx yawning shoma for sharing this great photo. He's looking good. Life goes on. Now if I can just find a video so I can see my favorite butterfly moves from This Town!...Did anyone yell "kakkoii" before he skated?

Lots of "Shoma! Shoma!" yells at the gala!

Wondered if he would wear the new white shirt. Looks like he did.

Lots of reports of Shoma adjusting the This Town choreography so he could gesture towards the corner that was cheering for him super loudly. I think it’s really sweet how he‘s been acknowledging and showing gratitude in his words and in small gestures to the people cheering him on throughout the event :)

Some of the people in that section watched some older versions of This Town to compare and they think he adjusted towards the corner (rather than the center like usual) so he could face the fans

Video clip of this moment!

Also, some beautiful pictures by Joseph Martinson
Update: a twitter thread of Joosep Martinson pictures from IDF!

Here’s a fancam of the part of the program with the butterfly move

Overall, I thought this was a really tender and sweet performance of This Town.

Something that I love about him reusing the same exhibition pieces is that you can see how he’s grown over time, and how he understands the piece and the music differently as he gains more experience.

Glad to see him smiling again and ready to push forward!

Edit: Shoma in the group finale number to Beat it! (thank you @GijiStellata on twitter for posting so many great moments from IDF!)

Spent a few minutes writing down some of TSL's Dave & Jonathan's comments regarding Shoma's performances. This is not everything they said about him -- there were negative things too. And frankly, I'm so bored with the "He needs a coach" stuff at this point. I figure when Sho wants us to know the new coach, we'll know. They were both so enthusiastic about him, it was a pleasure to hear their comments. This is a good percentage of what they said:

D: Well, speaking of rough performances. Shoma is one of the most beloved skaters. There is something about his energy, his performance quality, the musicality.

J: Even in the short program, which was clearly a mess – I was saying “I’m having an amazing time, I’m obsessed with this, I still think this is the best thing I’ve seen all season” – and it was a hot mess. I was watching one of my favorite skaters implode and saying “Isn’t this great?!” I think the program is just SO incredible.

D: I have to say even with the David Wilson (Robin song) when he was falling all over the ice, he was still giving emotion and performance of little nuances in his ability to skate that is the best of the big three.

J: Something that could have been heartbreaking, it was still heartbreaking but it was still beautiful at the same time. I didn’t understand how he was able to emote and not shut down. He used the program to exude his frustrations. It was something quite remarkable but seemingly very unsafe.

Paraphrasing -- Discussing the coaching situation:

D: Dave talked to Alex, and Alex has not been approached to work with Shoma on anything. Alex says Shoma is not difficult to coach. Shoma does well with a maternal figure. They suggested possibly Yuka Sato would be good with Shoma. Yuka is in Detroit which is close to Chicago and Shoma could easily work with Alex if needed.
J: The audience is obsessed with him.
D: He would do well with Tarasova.

At the end of every taping, they each choose a favorite moment of the competition. Here's Jonathan's:
J: I’m going to go with (despite his mess and troubles) Shoma’s short program because even though he belly flopped on the axel, I don’t care. What he is able to sell in those choreographic moments is transcendent to me.

Thanks guys for posting all the pics and videos from the gala :) It's really a relief to see Shoma smiling and in good spirits.

By the way, I thought this commentary from Yagudin was also really nice. https://twitter.com/MaryAgnetha/status/1190676665418108929
He is one of those athletes who turn their short and free programs into real stories on ice. Today his story was a little rushed. Well, I think after this story we can put three dots and wait for continuation. I'm sure that such athletes with such (strong) character and such (great) accomplishments - they don't vanish.

and here's another angle of the lift from Galliamov, so cute lol!

IDF was tough to watch but Shoma's courage until the end made it bearable.
It was never easy but Shoma we will be with you every step of the way.
Things are bound to get better.
