Still I'm looking forward to seeing Andrei appear in 19th century ballroom regalia (I assume he's portraying Vronsky? Unless he is doing an abstraction of multiple male characters in the novel, which is also fine since they're all nobility and should wear fancy clothes.)
Vetlugin, Kolyada and Mozalev have really rocked the jacket look these past couple of seasons... hint hint...

He looked great in his cadet uniform look, so I am sure weโ€™ll see that

Coach Vika Butsaeva's comments after Junior Test Skates with an update about Ilya's injury as well.

From fsrussia.ru, 20. August 2022:

This year two athletes from our school are taking part in the test skates. Andrei Anisimov has been training at Moskvich for several years, Maxim Belyavskiy moved to us at the end of last season.

We started the preparations in mid-June after a short holiday. We went to training camps in Sochi. First we had a camp with physical training, just off-ice. We tried it for the first time. The guys were engaged in choreography, stretching, physical exercises, reconditioning. For Lyosha Erokhov, Ilya Yablokov, Andrei Anisimov and other students it was a first experience of such training, usually, we started practising on the ice immediately. But this time, we took to the ice in Sirius only after the physical training camp, and I liked that as a coach.

We continued to train at the rink in late July, and speaking of Maxim Belyavskiy, it was only at that point he began to more or less maintain the workload. He did not train in April and May due to knee problems, and we started to fully prepare in June at the training camp. In such a short period of time it is difficult to assess anything, because in the month and a half before the test skates we had to do a fairly large amount of work, catching up with what we could not do as planned.

We changed both programs for Maxim, as he had skated the previous ones for several seasons. Evgeni Vlasov choreographed the programs. The short - "Bring Me to Life", the free to the song "I Will Be There" from the musical "Count of Monte Cristo". We are planning to perform the free skating with two quad salchows and two triple axels. That was the content we were working on. If all goes well, we could add a quadruple toeloop. But as long as Maxim is still growing, it's hard to say anything definite. We will be guided by the situation. We are aiming for a free program with three quads, two salchows and a toeloop and two triple axels.

Andrei Anisimov will start this season as a junior. We will see from there. It is clear that his height and build make him look like an adult athlete, but his appearance is not everything, he must have experience, confidence, stability in the performance of programs and elements. Everyone is different, it's all very individual.

Andrei also changed both programs. Nikita Mikhailov choreographed them, as he did last season. The short program was set to music from Anna Karenina and the free program to the musical "The Ball of Vampires".

The production was in progress prior to the training camp, with the programs being skated and refined in Sochi. I suggested the music for the short program. I had seen the musical Anna Karenina and I liked it so much that I immediately had the idea of setting the program to this music. I suggested it to Andrei and he and Nikita Mikhailov found it interesting. At the end of the season Andrei went to see this musical too, where Valeria Lanskaya does a fantastic vocal part...

To be honest, I don't pay much attention to how often certain tunes have been chosen for programs. I would like to repeat that each athlete is different and has his or her own way of expressing himself or herself in a program. We need to grow and try out different ways and styles.

We are planning a quadruple flip and a rittberger for the free program. Andrei already did the quad salchow in previous seasons, so we will try a flip, we were working on it. Probably we shouldn't talk about a hundred percent success rate on this jump, but we need to move on. And now is the time to do it, to show programs to judges and spectators in a more complicated version, because it is always possible to simplify.

In planning this season, of course, we took into account the changes in the rules. We had no problems with the step sequences, and in the free program for juniors there will be a choreo sequence instead of the steps. It was a bit more difficult with the spins, because there is a change of position through a jump, as well as complicated exits. Not all the guys can do it easily, we have to devote a lot more time and attention to it. And even for the test skates I cannot say that in this respect everything is ready in the way we need to show in the season.

The changes in the rules affected not only juniors but also adult athletes, but our senior team will be at test skates at the end of September. Unfortunately, Ilya Yablokov will not be able to take part. Last week he had a surgery on his right knee. Ilya fell off the quadruple rittberger in training and injured his meniscus. Nothing prepared us for this turn, training was going as usual, but, alas, it happened...

The surgery was a success. In the near future Ilya will start rehabilitation, physical therapy and all the necessary procedures. He won't be able to appear on the ice until September.

We have discussed the matter with our federation. We will plan the stages of the Russian Cup or Grand Prix for Ilya closer to the second half of the season. We hope everything will work out.

Lyosha Erokhov is training. We're working on steps, spins, we're working on new programs, - said Viktoria Butsaeva.

It may be spelled Legenda now, but it is still pronounced Moskvich. :giggle:

That said, the new season has started with the Moscow Junior Championships and while the competition has been discussed exhaustively in the Local Events thread, I'd like to point out the important fact that Moskvich has acquired Kirill No. 3:

I think we can all agree that he fits right into the Klub of Kirills.

Good, then by popular consensus the thread name can remain phonetically represented ๐Ÿ˜ Vika B's crew is and will be legendary but the original name is just so apt for their 'local kids' vibe.
One can never have too many Kirills especially the skating variety ๐Ÿ˜†

It's a bit hard for me to recognise the first guy in the pic from that angle... is Genrikh wearing Lyosha's old shirt??

Yes, it's Genrikh during yesterday's FS and his skating fashion role model Lyosha at the 2019/20 Cup final. ๐Ÿ˜†

Mercifully the Day 2 stream of Moscow Jr Championships has stayed up, so we can admire this awesome flying layback spin from Timofei Stolyarenko!
Flying layback is such a rare element, I think this might have been the first time I saw one 'in the wild'

The first two competitions of the season are done and since streams are getting blocked more often than not, I decided to share what I have archived anyway.

Moscow Junior Championships:
Kirill Nozdrevatikh SP (1st sports category)
Kirill Nozdrevatikh FS (1st sports category)
Andrusik SP
Andrusik FS
Belyavskiy SP
Belyavskiy FS
Stolyarenko FS (featuring the amazing flying layback)
Gartung FS

Panin Memorial:
Andrusik SP
Andrusik FS
Stolyarenko SP (comeback of Alexey's shirt)
Stolyarenko FS

Andrei's wonderful performances at Panin Memorial are of course in his fanfest. After some mistakes in the SP, he skated an inspired FS and came into 6th overall - first among the non-St. Petersburg skaters and first among the juniors competing in MS. :yahoo:
I'm still sad that Alexey E. didn't compete - I hope it was a strategic withdrawal rather than something else. He's made it so far already and has a chance to earn some decent prize money in the domestic competitions this season, it would be devastating if he were injured.

In juniors, Kirill Andrusik had a pretty bad fall on the last spin in the FS and then gave up on the program completely. You could hear Coach Butsaeva's scolding in the K&C.
Stolyarenko on the other hand now consistently comes out on top of the Moskvich junior boys. I hope they will give him and Kirill A. two junior Cup stages each, they both deserve it.

In the midst of a draining week for me, Andrei's FS at Panin Memorial was a moment of brightness ๐Ÿค—
I miss Lyosha (and Ice Cream King Ilya) too :ghug: Hopefully we get to see them again soon, and in tip-top condition!
Oof, poor Kirill - wiping out on a spin is never fun :( He does seem to have a tendency for disaster skates, but those 3As are looking remarkably solid, so despite the high signal-to-noise ratio I think his overall trend is positive...
Timofei Stolyarenko has a sinister elegance about him, all his programmes capitalise on this very well. Another boy who would fall into the "credible vampire" subset, methinks :D

Last weekend the younger Moskvich boys brought their warhorse music cuts, some lovely choreography, and their new 3As to sweep the podium at the Prizes of Lakernik competition. :yahoo:

๐Ÿฅ‡Kirill K. SP, FS
๐ŸฅˆMax B. SP, FS
๐Ÿฅ‰Kirill N. SP, FS - I have no idea where this boy suddenly came from, but he is a treasure.
6th Genrikh G. SP, FS - It wasn't enough for a medal this time, but the trixels were landed. The main intrigue is how shirt logistics will work when Genrikh and Timofey compete on the same weekend. ๐Ÿค”

Last but not least, best of luck to sinister Timofey at his first Junior Cup of Russia event tomorrow! :cheer2:๐Ÿ€

Kirills K and N have smiles so sunny they could light the rink in the event of a power cut ๐Ÿ˜„ Kirill K's La La Land choreo sequence was awesomely energetic and the judges agreed with the GOEs.
Happy to see Max B on the upswing too!

Congrats to Timofei!! Finishing so high without a 3A or quad (although I'm sure they'll appear in due course) is really impressive and a testament to his wicked component scores. So nice we get to finally see his skating with TV camera work, it really shows how much flow he has. And I see he solved the shirt logistics issue with Genrikh :p

Clean skates and smooth ice to Christmas Kirill, Vampire Andrei, and generally awesome Lyosha, plus undercover Moskvich skaters Ruslan and Roman at the second CoR stage in Sochi. :cheer:๐Ÿ€
Hopefully Kirill can repeat last season's success at the CoR, but in any case, what's most important is that he is proud of his performances afterwards. Same goes for Lyosha and Andrei - as long as they are happy in the K&C, I will be happy as a fan.

It really was amazing, wasn't it? This season's programs fit him to a tee. I wonder if Galina Ishenko choreographed them both?
There is also a behind the scenes video of the boy's warm-up before the competition. Timofey practising the layback position is just :jaw:, incredible flexibility.

What an emotional roller-coaster. I turned the stream off during Lyosha's K&C, he looked so crestfallen. There was no doubt in my mind that he'd end up in fourth place with that nightmare skate.

But I wanted to do at least a little celebratory post in Andrei's FF about landing the 4F and winning a bronze. Imagine my surprise when I opened the results table and found Lyosha in second and Andrei in fourth. Tbh, I feel a bit conflicted about that outcome, but the math worked out that way, so let's focus on all the good stuff. Which is mainly, as mentioned, Andrei landing gorgeous 4F and 4S and apart from a fall on the 4Lo delivering a clean Vampire Ball FS in the spirit of the season. ๐Ÿฆ‡

Congratulations are also in order to Lyosha, who skated a lovely SP and after a rough start to his FS fought for every combination in the second half which ultimately helped him win the overall silver medal. Maybe it's a good thing he got this meltdown skate out of his system early in the season and still managed to win a medal. I hope he can one day see it as a confidence boost rather than a failure.
In any case, the race for a spot at Nationals and the CoR Final is on, and the lads are making it as exciting as possible.

On a different topic, on October 30th Coaches' Day is celebrated, so many thanks to all the specialists working with the skaters! ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿพ
First and foremost to Viktoria Butsaeva who lights up every K&C with her beauty and words of coaching wisdom, as well as to Murad Kurbanov who helped in the off-season, and to Zhenya Vlasov and Galina Ishenko who are helping now.

Just caught up with the boys, since I've been busy volunteering at the local Grand Prix half a world away ๐Ÿ˜… Neither of them would have looked out of place there, where quads and chaos abounded too...
Yes, on the bright side Andrei had the almost-clean FS, Lyosha the placing for his strong SP, and both got decent ranking points for qualification. Room for improvement at the next stage of course.

By the way Andrei did a 4S-3T in the warmup before the SP, which is a significant step forward for him as I don't think he ever attempted quads in combo this time last season! Think this may be the first time he landed 4F in competition too.

I took a peep at Kirill A's skate too. A bit shaky, but much better than at Panin Memorial.

And a belated Happy Coaches' Day to all the team at Moskvich ๐Ÿฅณ

Ohhh, that sounds interesting! Any anecdotes to share (but maybe for another thread)?

Kirill A. improves from competition to competition. He's fighting for the elements now and not letting the program go if there are mistakes. With the ranking points he got, he's still well on the way to junior nationals.

It's also nice to see that he has a lot of support from his teammates, as demonstrated by this funny peek behind the scenes in Sochi ๐Ÿ˜ธ: https://youtu.be/0A6iXgBInIQ?t=225
Alina: What are you watching?
Andrei: Our teammate.
Lyosha: Kirill Andrusik, the best figure skater in Russia.

Here is Kirill A., the best figure skater in Russia, at Cup of Russia Stage 2 (Sochi) recorded for posterity:
Andrusik SP
Andrusik FS

This week in Kazan at CoR Stage 3 only the juniors competed. The field was strong and full of quadsters and trixellists, but the Moskvich lads were able to hold their own.
Timofey S. is still my star and he delivered two quasi-clean skates again (SP, FS). His programs last year were already top notch and one of the reasons I noticed him, but whoever did his choreos this season truly outdid themselves. I promise, I'll make Timofey a glowing fanfest as soon as he first sets foot on ISU JGP ice. ๐Ÿ˜ป
Genrikh G. also performed well in his Cup of Russia debut including his new 3A (SP, FS) and Max delivered the quads (SP, FS).
Realistically, probably none of the lads has a shot at making the junior CoR final, but Max, Timofey, and Kirill's chances for junior nationals are still alive after half-time in the series.

Next stop -> Moscow and the long-awaited return of ๐ŸจIlya๐ŸŽ

PS: Vladimir Litvintsev - training at the Moskvich rink? How intriguing. https://www.instagram.com/reel/CkjX06yINbO/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Oh yay! I didn't realise Ilya would be back so soon, since the Russian Cup series is usually spread out over a longer period, but sure enough stage 4 is coming up ๐Ÿคฉ

If Litvintsev is training there then that would certainly explain why he had Lyosha's old shirt! (Unless it's simply a very well-loved shirt...)

Lovely camaraderie between the guys in that interview ๐Ÿ˜Š Rooting for Kirill A, Timofei and Max to make Jr Nats!
I really enjoyed Max's programmes this week, I feel that his skating has gotten more expansive this year compared to before.

Speaking of the junior boys' fresh 3As, it's interesting how different the axels look within the group, e.g. Ilya (really hurls himself in and kicks through with free leg) versus Andrei (minimal arm/leg swing but gets in tight). I guess some boys came with whatever technique their first coaches taught them, and Vika's team figured out how to make it work. Timofei's 2A looks a bit small, but the takeoff style is similar to Andrei, so I'm optimistic. Kirill A doesn't have huge jumps, but funnily his 3A seems more consistent at times than some of his other triples!

Ohhh, that sounds interesting! Any anecdotes to share (but maybe for another thread)?
It was amazing seeing the skaters and coaches up close, and especially getting to watch practices and events for free outside of shift hours! I had a (non-infectious) cough so kept running off to grab hot tea from the volunteer lounge - it overlooked the warmup area so it was really interesting to see what people were up to. We had a funny episode where someone had to comb through all the shuttle buses to find a skater's lost headphones... the guy in question did really well afterward, so maybe he should lose his headphones more often ๐Ÿ˜† Also this was my first time seeing pairs live - simultaneously terrifying and awesome! And it turns out the pairs guys are really handsome IRL... ๐Ÿ™ˆ
So yeah, I'd heartily recommend volunteering if any opportunities come your way!
