I found C/B were missing something. Solid, but strangely uninspired compared to their usual performances. I doubt their program is going to prop them up come Worlds. I must admit that I found the Russian's speed noteworthy. I just wish their program wasn't so cookie-cutter. I didn't sense an iota of originality. They are talented, but not memorable beyond the speed.

I think 50% of my enjoyment of S/K came from knowing their history and seeing whether they've improved or is going to mess their elements. That said, their speed is lovely and he's a really great skater. His edges are  Though he still looked somewhat uncontrollable at times

The Ukrainians for me were the best of the night. They don't have that fake put on romance thing that a lot of teams had here. Very natural and refreshing.
Second best were Cannucsio(?) and McManus. Beethoven would be proud I think.

True and honestly their back story could really work for them. And lets not pretend the judges are not aware of that. Their us against the world love themed program would definitely work. Makes you want to root for them. But Victoria needs to spend more time in the ice, kinda obvious she was a the weaker skater. Their speed and big elements sort of masked that because they were flying across the ice

I wonder how much time C/B have had to train their FD since Nebelhorn. Putting a new SD together on such short notice must have cut into the time and energy they could devote to the FD. I think they did very well considering how difficult it must have been to set a new short dance, tweak the free dance and get both programs competition ready.

Marina is only good with romantic programs. Can't have her working with he ShibSibs.

S/K were going for romantic? This program was big, open and fast and generic. I thought that looked like an old retread of an I/K program, without the chemistry.

I think this style suits them much better than what they showed last year. They have an advantage right now, since they had longer prep time than other teams. I just wonder how much they can get out of this program.

I think theme of S/K's FD was a couple's "us against the world" romance, they have romantic chemistry but it's more soft very reminiscent of V/M (FYI they're also dating off the ice); it's just very different type of chemistry unlike he had w/ Ilinyk which was always angsty & tumultuous. Nikita seems much happier skating w/ Vika, so happy that they've massively improved since last season, they definitely needed time to gel.

They basically had less than 3 weeks to prepare for their SD and, in addition to that, they had to tweak their FD. And they'll compete again in two weeks in Cup of China. I don't like the last part of their FD but they did so well. Madison looked like she was trying to be upbeat - looked weak ... kinda out of sorts and Evan looked concerned.

I personally didn't care for the changes to the beginning or end of the C/B FD and they really seemed to be off tonight. It was so much better in Nebelhorn, they just looked out of sorts with this performance. Probably exhausted from changing their SD at the last minute, and Evan said he'd had a cold? idk they didn't seem right tonight but glad they got the gold.

For Chock/Bates: only 2.5 points PCS difference against S/K in their home. What will happen If they are against Bobrova/Soloviev? Chock/Bates looks in trouble. I don't like their free dance. I don't like their skating either. In my mind Tobias/Tkachenko already looks better dance team.

Sinitsina/Katsalapov's free dance boring, generic and very open and far apart. Like Chock/Bates's usual skating. If that is going to open judges eyes I'm good. I only remember Nikita's ice covarage on twizzles (but little control) and last butt sticking lift. Which I'm not going to say no If they turn into more pleasing pose. :disapp:

Judges tries to hype Gilles/Poirier, I don't like it. OK give them 8.00 for composition/choreography (They doesn't even deserve this because their dance is easy, simple holds, little blade work) but why are you giving them 8.00 for skating skills? :disapp:

My favorite skate was Cannuscio/McManus, love that program! Chock/Bates are very impressive in person. Hawayek/Baker not a fan, my friend wanted to know if he was amish.

I read some time ago that they dated once, but that they don't date now - so do they date again? They seem to be closer now than they were last season, but they could also act it (both Nikita and Victoria aren't bad actors, they looked pretty happy with their previous partners, even in the end). Anyway, the dance was nice, nothing special but much better and with better chemistry than I expected. It's good that their team is trying to make her look special.
I was a bit disapointed by C/B's dance, I expected more. This could be their year, but their SD and FD are not good enough now, they'll have to improve those dances a lot.

Is it just me, or Sinitsina/Katsalapov's FD looks somewhat similar to Chock/Bates's one? I don't know, I'm not a choreographer or any other dance specialist, but it looked to me like they have the same choreographer
And Nikita has best edge-work from all of the skaters who skated today, male or female, I still don't know why he has chosen to skate with Vica? She just can't keep up with him, not speed-wise and not technique-wise. Their team leave an impression of a Senior skater who skate with Junior skater. Good for them to have best TES mark, of course, but this dance give them no justice, too boring and bland.
And a couple of words about Gilles/Poirier: despite having some troubles with technical content, some flat turns andpoor edges overall I still liked their FD the best of all. And their StaLi is amazing, I'm glad more dancers decided to do stationary lifts in a last couple of years. This one is my favorite by far :) Are they deserve to be second here? No, but they certainly were entertaining.

I was one of those who was not so impressed with what Paul and Piper was going for this season, thought they were just trying to be weird for the sake of being weird. That was how I felt watching them on video. However, watching them in person made a big difference. For both days they had the attention of the crowd the most and I think what they had to do was much harder then it looks.
