Kaitlyn & Andrew just crushed their PB with a very strong SD. 76.73 points, with 39.53 of that coming from TES alone. Now that's the way to say good bye to that SD.

Kaitlyn & Andrew won the FD with a stunning performance. They got a standing ovation and scored their PB of 113.83. They also became one of the few teams to go over 113 points this season.

Well, just as long as you're comfortable out there, being March in Montreal and all.

But the question is, what venue..didn't you mention Laval? I can't see it at the Bell centre, although I love the location across from the Sheraton and all major hotels/amenities.

Skate Canada has put forth Montreal as a potential host city for Worlds 2020: http://static.isu.org/media/506310/isu_summary-championships-applications-2019-2020.pdf

Being the lone North America city contending has got to have some advantage, I think.

Also, Kirsten & Michael had a great performance today. It wasn't perfect but for a team that missed a big chunk of training time this was not bad at all: https://youtu.be/TQBQxFyBpSI

can you imagine if montreal were to get it : perhaps it would encourage our skaters to keep going after PC2018

i'm not ready for patrick to retire... i was okay with it in sochi.. but not anymore....

I get that. I was so excited to get two more seasons of V/M and then I saw that the S/D (rhythm dance) for the 2018-19 season is Tango Romantica and I so wish they would stay and skate that. I loved their CD to it in Vancouver so much (hence avatar pic).

ETA So many pairs and dance teams would be thrilled to have it in Montreal - not just Canadian ones. So convenient.

yup...

definitely.
For me, Patrick was at the top of the sport from 2009-2014, winning medals at every WC etc....and after a good 5th place in Vancouver, when he was injured, I was looking at Sochi and thinking it would be his swan song. No matter of the results... I was okay with the idea of retirement.

However, then, I saw his reaction... he was deflated and I thought, maybe he will come back. He did... but to me, it wasn't just a comeback... it was a new Patrick, one that i love even more than the WC/Sochi one. He is so much better now. Fine, he has a lot more content and sometimes makes costly mistakes, but i find that where he was almost always stellar up to Sochi, since his comeback, every competition he brings something new and improved and I wonder, is there a limit?

Also, and that is just being self-indulgent : but the Chopin, the Beatles, the Journey... how many more programs can we get from Patrick? MORE PLEASE he is really defining a style that needs to be established as a reference for great figure skating. In that sense, and I don't mean to be critical, the 4 Seasons were a gorgeous program but more something one can expect to see... he had made an early mark with The Elegy in that direction.... So I am excited to see the new programs... and hoping for more...

I would be fine with just one year... and two, so he can finish his career at home ;) to that's why it would be amazing if Montreal were to get it..

Regarding Virtue and Moir, they had a longer break... will they feel they want to keep going? I don't know... but they are still quite young. I think they have though achieved their style with conviction but I am still looking forward to their rumba... it's going to be hot!!!!!

If V/M continue after the Olympics into the next quadrennial, the turmoil in Canadian ice dance will continue, with more teams splitting. 15 ice dance teams completed at Canadian Nationals in 2015, and 14 in 2016, but only 9 in 2017 (including V/M). That would be great for V/M and the Canadian medal count, but not so great for the future of Canadian ice dance should V/M suddenly suffer an injury or decide to retire.
