What was the difference between Dragulescu and Shirai? Both had the same points? Dragulescu had more difficult jumps (per total). I don't know how they chose who gets the medal.

Not sure, something about the tie breaker involving dropping the lowest of scores given. It is so unfair. I wish they would just award multiple medals like they do in swimming. Aly not earning her all around last olympics broke my heart. Also, Nastia Liukin could have earned an additional gold had it not been for the tie breaker rewarding the other gymnast.

Kenzo!!! I knew he could do it! Now that he did the Yurchenko with 7/2 twists, he has Shirai and Shirai II on floor and now Shirai (I guess he shares with Kim Hee-hoon...not sure how two people get it named after them but...okay) and Shirai II on vault!

Code was especially messed up during it's first quad (more-so than now). Liukin should've won beam finals and asymmetric bars finals as well.

TV said it was decided based on the highest D score of four jumps done by Shirai and Dragulescu, Shirai's first jump had the highest score of 6.4 in D score.

Why they change the rules? 2008 it was based on average of the Jury B scores after the minimum was dropped (and then the minima just kept getting dropped until the mean shifted)...

Uematsu san says in Olympics Escore is preffered.

Im glad to see Uematsu san on TV. He was a specialist of HB.

Thank you for posting the link! I think TV program I watched gave wrong information (it was "スッキリ" btw). Another article and Japanese commentators said the highest score from each player were compared to decide the placement, so this time, 15.833 (Shirai) vs 15.633 (Dragulescu).

BTW, now i look back on youtube with taiso-nippon before Olympics. Usually I rarely see the TV , so i didnt know how much they appered on TV in this Olympics season and collected media's attention. It's surprising they got the result as they'd stated.
(i can easily imagine the big expectation for yuzu in 2018... Further, Japan has less athletes who can get a medal in winter Olympics compared with summer... People's expectation will concentrate on yuzu... )

And they go for unnecessarily difficult routines when they could win with less
(They're also both adorable... I had to say it!)

It has been said Kohei and yuzu have much in common… good looks, talent, star aura,… what’s more, SUPER hate-to-lose spirit and show-off! (ive been to Kohei’s competitions. He feels comfortable to perform collecting audience attention, especially in HB of final apparatus. He manipulates the moment and the atmosphere of a venue changes. ) . Long sleeves http://p.twpl.jp/show/orig/OIs5Z:biggrin:
Further, most point is they make difficult techniques look so easy.

But after seeing the individual event, I realized that the point where Kohei reaches is so far, so high… Of course, Kohei and yuzu have the different personalities. Yuzu is yuzu. Kohei is senior to yuzu and has more experiences.

Kenzo is in the same generation with yuzu (Kohei is a father of 2 children.). Yuzu may be on Kenzo’s side.

Kohei used to be this quite shy I remember (2008 and before). Lolol

I was thinking the same, he was the only gold medalist in Sochi and that means he is the only person who can aim for consecutive win in 2018, I'm 100% sure people will have big expectation and I'm scared already...

Tomita-san says this routine will be admitted as a new one and admires him for keeps challenging new routines (Hope the name will include Shirai!). About a new name, Kenzo says he’s not interested in it and it’s like just a present from FIB every time. The name is just a reword for overcoming barriers. For him the satisfaction of his execution is much important.:)

I have a question about Kenzo Shirai (congrats with bronze last night, OMG I so wanted him to medal this time!): is he planning to compete as all-around gymnast in future or vault and floor are his only interest? Personally I don't see him getting bulky, he's so light, but maybe I am wrong about his own perspectives.
As per comparing the athletes- I had a strong feeling that Yuzu and Kenzo have a lot in common, both light, energetic, all smily, becoming very charming when smile, positive, risky, etc. Kohei si a bit of another generation IMO.

Kenzo has already begun competing in the all around and actually got second place at the last All Japan Championships (this was a generally messy event) it seems he does plan to be an AA gymnast with specialization on the floor and Vault.

Well Yuzu and Kohei sure have talent, star power and good looks ( ), but so has Kenzo I think. And I didn't think Kohei was quite as much a show-off as Yuzu... but maybe that's my not so great gymnastics knowledge and understanding hampering my perception ;)

Also, something about Kenzo's appearance, face and smile reminds me of Nobu. Maybe I'll just stop with sticking to I love all of them :luv17:

It's an off-topic but do you watch Korean doramas? To me Lee Seung Ki looks so much like Nobu, every time I see him it's like OMG, they're like brothers.
