I'm still loving on my russian feed. Are all commercials in Russia this patriotic? It's quite delightful.

Chock/Bates being anywhere near Virtue/Moir is just ridiculous. Their blues pattern was practically unwatchable. Madi couldn't find an edge with a search party.

I think C/B should be in 4th place. But their PCS is actually low though. If everybody in the top group skates clean tomorrow in the FD, C/B would fall behind and the points between #1 and #2 would be much more. I think it will happen.

My own ranking of the top SDs via my own personal taste:

1. V/M's Prince. Packaged perfectly down to Tessa's slightly tacky Prince-esque costume. So well-choreographed and performed.
2. G/P disco. UNIQUE AS ALL GET OUT. Love the pornstache and awful(ly awesome) costumes. They sell it so well and it's so much fun.
3. H/B. The music cuts are well done and the music pieces naturally transition. For all the complaints about Michael Buble, it felt modern and fresh in comparison to some of the other dances.
4. C/B. It was close with H/B, but ultimately, I really dislike the "Bad to the Bone" part. The choreography is fine, it was performed very well, but the song itself is just soooooo cliche. Plus, it just isn't cohesive with Uptown Funk (which is the best part of the program.) Much better execution than H/B, however.
5. C/L. Stale, but well-performed. Still, I'm not sure why judges continue to reward them such high PCS for such overused content. They beat C/B and G/P on PCS, which I don't love.
6. S/B. I preferred their execution over H/B, but disliked their music/program.

It's 3 AM here in Poland :drama:  I guess I have to be pretty special case to watch this right now (I am a guy too  ) and not from the country where figure skating is popular.

Heh, I'm in Canada so I'll stop complaining. I know what that's like, I stayed up till 3AM to watch the 4CC men's free program last February! I feel your pain. :ghug:

It's Saturday tomorrow thank's god.

Enjoyable evening. As for my compatriots, I was thrilled by Medvedeva, felt sorry for K/S and was quite happy about S/B as they have developed a lot (did not understand why they got such a low score as I liked them better than C/B but this is dance). As for my non-compatriots the Canadians made the highlights in all 3 disciplines: Osmond, D/R, and V/M.

I think I agree with all of this. Except the H/B part because I wasn't paying enough attention to judge. I did hear the Buble though.

Hey Matt - I totally agree. C/B program slow and seemed forced. I want to like them but ....

C/B should have placed 1st in this event having danced a true Hip hop. If PCS has to do with presentation, then they should have ranked 1st. Hip hop is a street dance ... kind of a cultural expression or a lifestyle, a way of life so moves are usually improvised, funky, hitting the beat or moving through a beat. It's very rhythmic. Usually, a dancer moves a specific body part independently from other parts. The dance is characterized by movements and poses _ popping, locking, breaking, etc. Whoever choreographed C/B SD dance understood the culture very well.

The choreographer is Rohene Ward. I commend C/B for using a young, African-American choreographer who has worked with hip hop in the past. At least they are trying.

Oh, I've seen his work (mainly Jason Brown's) ... I forgot he was C/B's choreographer for this SD. I thought he is a Puerto Rican.

I believe his mother is from Puerto Rico, which is why he skated for PR when they had a fed. And of course you can be African American and Puerto Rican. But he grew up in Minneapolis; separated at birth from Prince:biggrin:

V/M ahead by just 1 point. Makes you wonder what marks they'd get outside of Canada.......

On paper, the difference in points between #1 and #2 look small, ahead by just 1 point. But there was a USA Technical Controller at this event. Also, Chock/Bates was actually 3rd in PCS, behind Cappellini/Lanotte. That is just not good.

One can also wonder what kind of TES Chock/Bates would be receiving with another technical panel.

If everybody skates clean in the FD, the margin between #1 and #2 would grow and should not be much of a contest. Let's see what the Technical Panel decides tomorrow.
