Lajoie/Lagha have the worst draw imaginable. Skate order isn't supposed to make a difference, but we all know it does. Ugh. My hopes for them in this event just plummeted.

Take heart, @rain. This event is not the ultimate competition of the season, and if they can prove themselves even when skating first, this will give them extra strength to face other difficult situations in future competitions.

Once in a while, I feel like going for the nuclear option when doing my predictions. And I did it for Ice Dance here, going with my heart rather than my brain.

I was so tempted to put Marjorie and Zachary at the top, but after reading that they were starting at #1 (thank you @rain for pointing that out. I don't normally pay too much attention to the start orders), I decided to be cautious and put them in 2nd position instead! :p

Instead, I put my kids Emilea and Vadym on top! And Nadiia and Peter in 3rd!

Oh, and then I had the two British partnerships, but with Phebe and James ahead of Lilah and Lewis.

I know that as a result of this, I'm probably going to crash and burn. But, I don't care! Since so many of my favourites are here, I want to show my support for them for a change!

Hmm, you might have missed Diana and Gleb there.. ;) of course, there's a question how fairly they will be judged..

I was really torn between them and Lilah and Lewis for 5th. I swapped them a few times before posting. The thing is, it's been a while since we saw Diana and Gleb. We don't know if the Judges are going to hold things against them.

In the end, I decided that since Lilah and Lewis are the favourites, I would need to put them in.

1) Didn't they compete relatively recently (this summer) in the USA?
2) Judges favoured them so much a few years back. I am surprised to read otherwise.

They did compete in Lake Placid (they won!), but that was a domestic event. We don't know whether the international judges and panels will feel as enthusiastically about them now compared to they way they did a few years ago. Let's face it, mother doesn't exactly have the same standing and influence internationally that she used to.

That is incorrect. D/S competed in the International event at Lake Placid.

And those were international judges

I think they were overscored, whatever the reason in the past. If they no longer are, then it's probably fairer to the field.

I don't think Davis/Smolkin are judged worse than before, I don't see that in their first competition as Georgians, and I don't see that in the judging of other Russia-born athletes or Eteri pupils like Egadze. Quote me later, but in this moment this is just an idea that people got into their head.

Where did you find that? When I go to the Entries / Results page, there is just a blank cell where the results links should be for the Juniors and Seniors. (I got the results off Rink Results).

But, I went into the other levels, and saw that they had judges from other countries too. Wow! I just assumed that, even though there were entries representing other countries, it would be all domestic judges since it was a domestic competition.

Sorry for my mistake.

Because you looked at the domestic side of the event and were not aware that Lake Placid International exists. Both competition go in parallel. I found this very simply on the home website of the competition. :)

:palmf:

I didn't go far enough down the page to see that there was another link for another Entries / Results page. :slink:

Oh, I hate it when events have more than one Entries / Results page. Makes it too hard to follow what is going on.

At least with the Lake Placid event, the organisers were considerate and had the Juniors and Seniors included in the schedule on the main Entries / Results page. But you would have thought they would have at least had links on there as well to take you to the results on the other Entries / Results page.
