Kostornaya is lovely. I remember her from a video when she was tiny and she was so good then, too, so I hope she has fully healed. I hope she skates a good LP and can get some sort of international assignment or notice.

Thank you so much for these videos. Lots of names I didn't know of that I might just start following. Kostornaya was especially impressive. Vasilieva's music cuts gave me a headache, though. From a song with lyrics to an abrupt pace and music change... it didn't work for me. She is lovely, though.

The boys' SP results, copied from FSO. I'm thrilled to see Georgy in the first place. I had made peace with the fact they might not give him a JGP due to lack of 3A, but at least he is making a case for himself. His artistry is superb.

1.Georgy Kunitsa 69.44 (2.5A)
2.Ilya Yablokov (66.97)
3.Vladimir Samoilov (65.03)
4.Artem Kovalev 64.52 (low 3.5A)
5.Artem Frolov 64.05 (low3.5A)
6. Ilya Skirda 61.77
7.Matvey Vetlugin 61.57
8.Dmitry Evgenyev (60.70)
9. Irakliy Maisuradze (58.47)
10.Artur Danielyan (57.85)

Any chance Kostornaya will get a JGP assignment? I know Pogorilaya got a spot on the JGP initially after winning this comp, but the field was much less crowded then. But Vasilieva has one, and Kostornaya beat her easily here.

Breaking news - new star born!

Alena Kostornaya had excellent both SP and FS. Very good jumps, spins, skating skills, presentation. Level of best Russian Junior Ladies. And I've seen it by my own eyes.

Relatively low score means nothing. Past season winner of the same competitinos Daria Panenkova had 177.95 for clean skating, and at Sofia Trophy for about the same skating she got 197.37.

Enjoy!

Ugh, finally~! The channel Видео Студия -38 started to upload videos. By 1-2 videos in five minutes. So very soon we'll see Alena's skating. :) But now we can watch very beautiful Ksenia's program. Beautiful dress. And she has very good skating skills.

The announcer of the tourney speaks in such pure, feminine and melodical Russian accent. A feast to the ears! :luv17:

[I'm a total Russophile.]

Now I'm really upset about Ksenia. :( Because of bad SP she got absolutely not hers scores overall. She could easy take 2-3 place. I calculeted that for the free skate she got 109 points. And don't know what to think. Are Russian judges finally started to hurt skaters and don't give them high marks (and it's really good, it's better to get low scores at home and high scores at interanational competitions, and not vice versa), or they didn't like Ksenia. But I guess I saw she did a mistake in her stsq. Maybe because of that she lost around 3-4 points. But her skate definitely was like at 115-125 points.

Scores at this particular competition are traditionally very low. I believe we will see higher scores further in the season. As for Ksenia, she was one of the first to skate, and that must have influenced the score as well - with 66 points in TES she got only 42 in PCS.

Kostornaya was not at the junior test skates, so not particularly likely.

Loved many of the skaters here but especially Kostornaya and Vasilieva! I guess Kostornaya's success was a little unexpected as she is not listed even as a substitute for the JGP events announced so far. That means she will probably get no JGP this season. I suppose she can still be in the mix for Junior World team later in the season.
