With posters from everywhere and mostly young now at Golden Skate I wondered who might be left to go back to the beginning and answer this in a historic way.
Since I don't know much about male skaters pre Dick Button I would start with him as far as the men go. First is that he had technical prowess. And he had fabulous skating skills. I think he was also very honest in his assessment, unafraid to stand up for beauty in the sport he so loved. His commentary was great because he taught viewers and knew all the skaters that came before or after. I didn't always like his manner or agree but I truly respected his accomplishments and knowledge. As far as men go who do you look up to and why? Other disciplines are ok too if it isn't too ambitious.
