K/S may not be my favourite pair, but I can't help but love Alexander Smirnov personality. Yuko is a very lucky woman to have a partner like that :)
male partner just stands near and pretends he is the important one, makes a good looking move, smiles and waves
I'd love to see that sometimes

A recent interview with Tamara right here http://www.sovsport.ru/gazeta/article-item/886055

Fortunately it is not so long, otherwise I must be dead. Here we go:

Tamara Moskvina: Yuko Kawaguchi has managed to complete makeup courses

Sovsport.ru correspondent visited the training group of Tamara Moskvina, the honored coach of Russia, and asked her about the recovery process of Yuko Kawaguchi, twice European pairs champions with Alexander Smirnov. It is still remembered that Yuko sustained a serious injury on the eve of the Euros - Achilles tendon rupture.

- Yuko is continuing to recover from injury. A week ago her plaster cast was changed, - said Moskvina. - Now it is removable, allowing her to make slight movements in the ankle joint. She will be wearing this cast for another three weeks. Then Yuko will be at the stage of rehabilitation – for the recovery of tendon and ankle functions. It is planned to be done in Moscow. More precisely, in a Moscow clinic FMBA, as an agreement has already been reached. Figure Skating Federation of Russia will bear all costs.

- How will Alexander Smirnov overcome this period? He has to work alone because of his partner – an uncharacteristically state of ...
- He's going through, as we all do. But we quickly found a replacement activity for him. In order to continue to skate and maintain his technical form, Sasha comes to classes of our pairs skating group. And as you can see now, he is helping his "group-mates", that is, the students of our group coaches Bezmaternykh Bones and Arthur Minchuk. In addition, he is engaged with a Lithuanian couple Butkute/Nikita Ermolaev, who have been training in our group for two years. In the language of football, Sasha today is a "player & coach"/a "skating mentor."

He helped Yuko a lot and he helps her at home as well. Bringing her to the clinic, and taking back ... After all, the crutches are not too comfortable to move around the city. In short, All these only demonstrate the very care of Sasha’s, which is expected from a meticulous and caring partner.

- How about Yuko’s feeling now?
- She is not sitting idly. Already managed to finish the make-up courses, and she even visited the theater yesterday evening, when she stated: "Oh, Already I can take care of myself! "

Sasha is indeed a real gentleman.:love::cool2: Some Russian fans are worried about his health because of his unusual red face & neck after each skate, but I don't know what to say about it, as I am not a medical specialist whatsoever.

So does this mean that Kavaguti and Smirnov are retiring? I would be disappointed but not surprised considering their ages and injuries. Alex is a handsome man but unless he pulls it back...that hair! He looks like a 70s disco star!

There's no news on a retirement. But Yuko's injury is serious, and it will take time to heal. Meanwhile, it's good he's keeping busy.

A disco number for him & Yuko - he's already got the suit for it.:)

I don't know if I was blinded by his outfit as well as his students', or if it was because of the hair down.... but it took me a couple minutes to realise it was Alexander:laugh2:, I totally didn't expect to see him in Boston...any I thought he looked great! I admire people who don't care about 'fashion' and wear what they like. I really hope we'll see more of him and Yuko on competitive ice but it will be tough:sad21:
