Consistant calling of UR should be a priority for ISU, because it has such drastic impacts on the lives of these skaters. What would the final placements been today if that caller from Cup of China was here? Or if a more lenient caller had been in China would Ashley have made the Final? It is just nuts.

Absolutely agree! ISU please fix this problem. I would love to see the same standard of judging and tech calling at all events!

I think Kaetlyn's next step is to put some combos and harder jumps in her second half.

Well, I think the "travesty" as some are dramatically calling it, is that the tech panel didn't call all of Sakoto's pre and under-rotations on 50%+ of her tiny, tiny jumps. She should be in 4th, Anna in second. Evgenia deserved first, IMO, and besides, she was well ahead of Pogo & Sakoto after the short. Osmond had the best skate, but doubled a couple of triples. The judging was a bit odd - look forward to the protocols.

Anna and Kaetlyn were amazing. Anna had the performance of the night and of her life, as it was said on eurosport. I am trying very hard not to say more than... what the ... is with Satoko's scores?? Is her whole family feeding the judges? It's so underwhelming to see her skating after skaters like Anna and Kaetlyn and getting better scores than them with those underrotated jumps and travelled spins. But no more. I am pissed off. Poor Anna:(. At leasty Kaetlyn knows she left points on the table ( but what a tripel triple, the best, nobody can touch her, when she jumps she can easily hop over Satoko) but Anna?? Great jumps, great spins, great interpretation and no love. I am not going into the Medv battle. I am blocked with Satoko.

Important ladies events should be judged by Shin Amano until there is another technical specialist who can see underotations/edge calls.

2 mistakes and she'/ still damn close to Yuna's perfect performance. Keeping your opinion is fine, but maybe you shouldn't judge on others'.

I respect yr opinion, but I don't think you are quite right. Well, that program has so many bent tanos and beautiful crossovers and so many inovative things, george bush speech, ambulance, open mouth for the entire program, that requires a lot of training. Perfect lutz, perfect landings, just a tiny tiny mistake on a flip, that's how you get 148. Maybe you are a hater and can't see it? Maybe yes, maybe not, but I respect your opinion. Going back to watch the skipping rope program, bye

But even with her jumps in the second part of the program, Evgenia's skating looked slow and labored :-s, mediocre at best.

She is always slow and laboured and that is exactly why she gets high PCS. The irony. Yes, Osmond and Pogo look fast but can they jump they way they do doing what Evgenia does. You may not like it but that's what the system now rewards.

Oh for pete's sake. I'm a card carrying Pogo fan but can we not make her some sort of a victim? She IS getting recognized, judges are perfectly willing to throw great scores at her. Tonight she had a great skate and got a great score. But so did Satoko, c'mon. I'm really really not a Satoko fan but credit where it's due, it was possibly the best I've seen from her. The FS was touch and go, they were both amazing but Satoko had the SP lead, so her silver is really not some great injustice.

I firmly believe that if Anna's completely clean twice, she won't be beaten by anybody but Medvedeva, she's building great momentum.

Only because of an uncalled UR on her 3T.

Oh please, you truly believe that? Anna is 3rd because she is just Russian no.2 vs Japanese no.1. They do not want Russian go 1-2
She has been robbed forever. But yeah, judges giving her 143 is a great sign.

Um, no, if this was scored like 2 or 3 years ago I'd say the top 3 break maybe 205-208, but it seems like certain skaters get a +3 or +4 by default in general, unless you're Medvedeva who gets like a +10

Girls definitely brought their A game today (well bar Elena) but I would not reach that far with my conclusion either.

What irks me about this is that the scoring is so uneven. If the judges are going to inflate scores, they need to do it equally.

Miyahara should NOT be able to do tiny jumps and get the same TES as Pogorilaya. Whether the judges see the UR or not, Miyahara should have +1 MAX on her jumps. They usually should be 0 GOE. She has other great qualities in terms of choreo, interpretation, and polish. But you can't give her the same marks for her technical content as the other women when the other women go clean. It doesn't make sense. The score is even more ridiculous when the judges don't call her on the URs.

Then, there's Osmond. Someone else said this earlier, but having good presence on the ice- good posture, skating fast, looking at the audience, etc.- IS NOT the same as having good choreo and interpretation. Osmond has good presence but she's still, IMO, less good with choreo, composition, interpretation, and performance execution. Her LP is way less good- it's plodding, boring, and mostly empty except for a few choice facial expressions- than her SP and should be marked accordingly. It's highway robbery for her to get 136.91 (and 70+ in PCS) with the so-so quality of her program and multiple jumping mistakes.

Finally, Mevedeva's obviously outstanding when she's on. But if she's struggling through for her standards (off on her landings, etc.), she shouldn't be knocking on the door of a world record score.

Compare these three to Pogorilaya and Sotskova who were more appropriately scored for what they actually did. I'd have 1. Medvedeva (about 5 points lower) 2. Pogorilaya 3. Miyahara (about 5 points lower) 4. Osmond (about 5 points lower) 5. Sotskova 6. Radionova

Anna may have lost some PCS for not finishing with the music. Though I really, really like her. It's hard to believe how young she is because of her mature look and skating. And I mean that as a compliment!

Didn't Anna finish after the music at NHK too? Not sure about Rostelecom. Seems like they need to make a little adjustment somewhere. I didn't get to watch the replay. I was hoping to see what happened.

I agree... Ha, at the same time, though --> it feels a little jarring to have such a cute reaction immediately following a 9/11 tribute program... IMHO, it just hammers home how *inauthentic* this program is for her... (I'm also surprised that we've made it this far into the season without that voiceover portion being removed / reworked).

I mean, how authentic is a tragic program going to be when you train it daily? Hopefully not too authentic or you'll be making yourself miserable.

I don't like the theme of the program but it's not Evgenia's fault - it wasn't her idea, and she, quite frankly, elevates the lackluster material she's been given. I'd like to see her with some better stuff, but it's not up to me.

Let's all remember that she's a teenage girl and cut her some slack no matter how much we disagree with the judges. Look at this dork (which I mean in a lovable way)! http://kotaku.com/champion-russian-figure-skater-is-really-into-yuri-on-i-1789129434

There's a lot I love about her skating but I don't think she's flawless. Probably Anna comes the closest to flawless for me . Still, two 3-3s in the second half? Ladies and gentlemen, your GPF champion. No one else does that. No one else can do that. Nerves of steel.

If you only read here you would think Medvedeva had a Patrick Chan like splatfest; actually she had a stepout and corrected that combo in second half.

Here you go. Dragging in Patrick has inevitably started. Is this an invitation to bring in his rival's worse splatfest?

Can't people appreciate this was a great event by some great young Ladies? Congratulations to the medalists and special mention to Kaetlyn for a very successful return from injuries.

I guess Evgenia is human after all, lol. She seemed a bit more nervous than usual, but I still found her performance enchanting. And her English is quite impressive! Sad for Kaetlyn missing a podium spot.:(. Happy Anna made it. I would have had her second, though kudos to Satoko for a clean skate. If only her jumps were higher and more powerful (e.g., like Karen Chen's), it would make such a difference in challenging for the top spot.
