:rolleye: I really wish she wouldn't... she could lead easily if she'd just go clean with a double.

After seeing her in person at the Broadmoor open jump thingy, I rally think this is something she wants. She had a fire in her eyes when she was trying it. While I can see your point of view from a practical point of view, if this is something she really wants and is committed to, i can get behind her trying. I don't think she is being pressured to try it, I think it is what she wants.

I doubt she's being pressured to do it either, at least in competition right now... Tom Z focuses heavily on the jumps but he's nothing if not a pragmatist, I don't believe he'd be pressuring or even encouraging her to put it in knowing it's not fully rotated.

I as always wish her well and all success but I don't think it's a good idea. Winning a competition right now would help her a lot more than another failed triple axel.

Ivett is adorable.
Yes. I believe she is underscored in PCS and deserves score higher than URed Tyler Pierce (whose spins are better than Ivett's, but UR).

Unfortunately Ivett Toth almost always makes many mistakes in FS.

I actually really liked Buchanan! Nice spins and attitude!

Mirai is always a heartbreaker to me.

I do think she has improved overall since last year- her spins look better, genuinely top notch again, and her performance ability is better. I fear the jumps are never going to be all the way there though.

did anyone else notice that her music faded in and out? sound system issues? not that it's any excuse for the fall on her combination. but i've been noticing it with other skaters too

What was her score?

I caught the stream for her skate but I conveniently missed all the jumps but the 3Lo (which looked fine, although I couldn't see a UR on an iPhone).

surprised 57.85 for Mirai with a fall on her 3F-2T combo.

sound system issues had her a bit slow so as a Mirai fan, i thought it was high

I think Mirai looks so much better than she has in several years. She looks to be in very good condition and she doesn't have that defeated/scared look so much. It will be interesting to see the protocols. She did seem happy with the new SB.

57.something

Lo looked possibly UR? Hard to tell on the stream. Combo not UR but pretty much fell trying to tack on double toe. 2A monstrous, spins truly exceptional.

Yes I agree she does look in better condition, and as I said her spins are truly top notch again which they weren't for quite a while. Speed also seems better.

I thought the rotations were fine. She held that landing edge of her 2A for a long time. She was slow and so anxious about scores though. I'm curious to her score broken down TES + PCS. Without the -3 GOE on her combo and -1 fall, she'd be at ~61. Clean program PCS bump, ~63?

I didn't see the program but glad that Mirai did not go for the 3A? If she skates her FS like she did at Nebelhorn, she could win here.

Tyler tends to fall apart in her FS, although Maria could also win if she's clean.

Mirai had a big 3F that almost hit the boards, tried to tack on a 2T which wasn't smart and fell on her knee.
3L looked good but another user said looked UR
Huge 2A with long landing edge +GOE def

spins and steps were good, but not timed well

Doesn't she have to do the 3 flip in combination with at least a double or it gets no points? Wouldn't it be smart to add the 2toe rather than have the element not count at all?
