I would have put the Canadians over the Americans. Maybe not for the FD but for the overall score.

Nope. The Canadians are fast and powerful but very sloppy. My favourite Russians are third with my guilty pleasure FD of the season.:agree:

I did call it - I knew they would get dumped to around 84 to group them off the podium. And that was 3 points below their SB.

This may give Anthony and Christina pause to stay together. Obviously the judges like them. They each have their own strengths, I just am not clicking with them as a team. They are just 17/18 so maybe it will just take time. Anthony's natural talents and basic skills are superb!

I didn't find the Canadians particularly impressive. That FD just doesn't do it for me. The winners were cleanish, rather sloppy and flat in areas but congrats to them they held it together.

The Circular step sequence was downgraded to level 2... she actually had a bit of an hesitation in her double twizzles but I didn't know from the angle.
That 1.5 would have enough for 2nd place. It's a bit frustrating for them :slink:

The Canadians lost out by 0.66 because the judging panel (8 European judges + JPN) wanted two European teams on the podium.

Is there a suggestion they are planning to seperate? I think they're great together.

Ponomarenko and Carreira were overscored. They had serious mistakes both in short and in the free (twizzle and spin) and still on the second place!!
The difference in the quality of skating between them and other top contenders is not so big to justify the scores.
It should have been 1 - S/A, 2-U/N, 3-L/L, 4 and 5 between C/P and the last Russians.
