Thoughts from the Men's FS...
Jimmy Ma for Skate America! I loved his program, and he hit a gorgeous spread eagle to triple axle right in front of us:luv17:. His 2 performances were a highlight for me.
Torgashev FINALLY hit a clean 3A (I think it was the only clean one the entire time he was in Philadelphia), and was super excited after his skate. Very nice to see him pull out the win.
I enjoyed Camden's skating, and the step sequence was fantastic. If he can go clean, it will be a big score.
Poor Yamato Rowe - he was popping early in the program and finally had to take a break due to lace issues (he had trouble with them yesterday in practice too). I loved how the other competitors were supporting him though - Dolensky & Ma were yelling to encourage him after pops, cheering when he rotated. The men all seemed to get along really well.
Dolensky had trouble early on, and I had trouble getting into it... the headless scratch spin at the end is stunning though.
Panoit... huge jumps, but not always well controlled/clean. My favorite moment was actually the rippon 3z-2t towards the end - it really highlighted the height he gets.
I sat with Micah Tang & Patrick Fraling's moms, it was so interesting to see how they reacted (I certainly knew whenever a jump was coming up). Both had good moments, but struggled a bit - but I enjoyed both programs a lot.
It was lots of fun going to the competition, and many thanks to everyone I sat with (especially icecoverage) - I learned a lot!
