I just saw a clean triple axel in a novice competition. I'm serious blown away.

I couldn't believe my eyes and had to check the protocols  Also, he not only had a 3a, but great energy and PE skills. The future looks seriously bright across all disciplines in US figure skating.

I can't understand why nobody is interested - William Annis landed 3A in SP. Rare enough and great success.

Btw he is also is at Juvenile Dance couple Jasmine Lanata & William Annis - 5th at Eastern Sectional Championships (only Top 4 advance to Nationals).

The only info I found - https://www.statsonice.com/skater/williamannis/
Maybe somebody knows more? At least how old is he?

I came to the thread hoping to see more discussion, so I too am disappointed. I posted in the US Men's thread to hopefully get people interested in the Free.

The deduction was for a fall.

He was fourth in US Intermediates last year
https://www.statsonice.com/skater/williamannis/

And won US Nationals in Juvenile in 2017.

He is 14 and is coached by Karen Lehmann.

At Russian forum I read that William Annis turned 14 years old about a week ago, and some discussion about him.

Russians are more interested in US skaters?

Very few people watch below the junior level. The juvenile/intermediate threads have been basically dead, and the novice not much better. Good for William, though I'm really curious why he did a 2A as his solo jump instead of the usual 3S/F/Lz/whatever. Cost him a lot of points, and I didn't realize that was even allowed.

Ilia Malinin - yes, he really has triples. Shame for 1Lz and fall from 3Lz, other good.

Eric Prober - promising boy with too complicated for him program. Tried two (!) 3A both unsuccessful. Has 3+3 combo.

William Annis - good boy, 3A, but fall on 3Lz.
Needs to improve spins especially sit position.

Matthew Nielsen - good skating.
167.64, second in total, first in FS.

All Top3 are strong and promising.

Agreed. It is a pity the public and media attention is mostly focused on the girls. The boys work just as hard, but with lesser recognition comes less money which means they always have to fight an uphill struggle.

I find the boys/men more interesting, ha. Glad we're continuing to see promising guys in the US.

Because for Novice men short you must do a single or double axel. (IE his triple axel was his allotted double or triple jump). It's not until junior men that the axel type jump can be double or triple. Here's the required elements PDF :)
